    Hi,
    My website is about free software downloads. I let people download apps and software for free. However, I enable the Software Application Schema Type. But I see the error report on my Google console. There are two errors which they say
    1. “Rating is outside the specified or default range
    Items with this issue are invalid. Invalid items are not eligible for Google Search’s rich results”
    Here is the outlined code with an error showing in Google Console:

    <b>
    <meta itemprop=”ratingValue” content=”0″>
    <span class=”average-likes”>Popularity 0%</span>
    </b>
    <meta itemprop=”bestRating” content=”100″>
    <span class=”bar-width” style=”width: 0%”></span>

    <meta itemprop=”reviewCount” content=”0″>

    Error No.2
    Value in property ‘reviewCount’ must be positive
    Items with this issue are invalid. Invalid items are not eligible for Google Search’s rich results
    Here is the outline code as an error:

    <meta itemprop=”reviewCount” content=”0″>

    4 items are affected by this error. How can I fix it.

  • Hello,

    We apologize for the issues you are facing with the rating snippets on your website. It seems that the errors you are encountering are related to the values being set for ratingValue and reviewCount in your Schema markup.

    Error 1: "Rating is outside the specified or default range"

    The error indicates that the ratingValue is set to 0, which is outside the acceptable range for ratings. Typically, ratings should be within a defined range, such as 1 to 5 or 1 to 100, depending on how you have set up your schema. To fix this:

    • Ensure that the ratingValue reflects an actual rating from users. If you do not have any ratings yet, consider setting a default value that is greater than zero, or simply remove the rating until you have valid data.

    Error 2: "Value in property ‘reviewCount’ must be positive"

    This error occurs because the reviewCount is also set to 0. Google expects this value to be a positive integer, indicating the number of reviews received. To resolve this:

    • You should update the reviewCount to reflect the actual number of reviews. If there are no reviews yet, it might be best to omit this property until you have at least one review.

    Suggested Code Changes

    Here’s how you might adjust your code:

                        Popularity 1% (or appropriate percentage)

    Additional Notes

    • Make sure to validate your updated Schema using Google’s Rich Results Testing Tool after making these changes to ensure that the errors are resolved.
    • Remember that having actual user ratings and reviews will improve your chances of appearing in rich results.
