RankMath Sitemap error with Google Search Console

    Good evening

    I’m hoping you can help me. I have 2 of my websites and 1 client site (that I’ve found so far) all reporting errors with the sitemap, which is generated through RankMath on the website.

    Using one of mine as an example, it works if you click the link : https://hamptondigitalservices.com/page-sitemap.xml

    But inside Search Console it’s reporting the following:

    Sitemaps read
    Sitemap/ Last read / Status / Discovered URLs
    https://hamptondigitalservices.com/page-sitemap.xml 27 Nov 2024 21 errors 23
    https://hamptondigitalservices.com/post-sitemap.xml 19 Nov 2024 Success 59

    When I click on the page-sitemap.xml link, it says:

    Sitemap can be read, but has errors
    Invalid URL 21 instances
    This is not a valid URL. Please correct it and resubmit.

    But it is a valid URL as I can click on it.
    Have you had anyone else report this issue? I’m concerned of what I’m doing to their SEO if the sitemap can’t be read (mine included).

    Another client example is : https://janetyourcelebrant.co.uk/sitemap_index.xml

    In Google Search Console, next to sitemap and it says “success”, but when you click through it isn’t even showing the sitemap for “page-sitemap.xml”, and says couldn’t fetch against “post-sitemap.xml”

    Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    We checked your sitemaps and found the errors are coming from the invalid image URLs:

    We have seen this type of issue before with Divi. It happens when you are using the Blurb feature in Divi and using a background image in the Blurb.

    Users have already reported this to Divi but we suggest you notify them as well to move the issue to priority. You can ask them if they have a solution where these background images of blurbs are not included in the sitemaps.

    The functionality of Rank Math being able to see Divi images and adding them to the sitemap was added by the Divi team and that is why it is recommended that you contact them directly.

    However, to fix this issue temporarily, you can disable the Images in the Sitemap option in Rank Math sitemap settings or exclude the specific page from where the image URLs are coming.

    Thank you so much for such a detailed respose. I have now removed the images from the sitemap (temporarily) and fingers crossed Google will rescan and remove these errors.

    I’ll also raise this with Divi, so thank you again for making it easy for me to log this with them.
