I am having a serious problem for the last 2 days. Before that sitemap was showing everything and now suddenly the category and post sections are not indexed. Rather there are errors I am receiving

    Sitemap is HTML
“Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.”

Even though I have reactivated litespeed cache and as per your post added this in excludes: /(.*)sitemap(.*).xml
    /(.*)sitemap.xsl

Also In Rankmath Edit.Ht access I have added this: # END WordPress
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule .* – [E=Cache-Control:no-cache]

Still the sitemap is showing error, I am using Hostinger Business plan, ad tried their help but it didn’t work.

    Pease help at the earliest.

Also Here’s my 2nd query, In your Google adsense YouTube video for approval I had a doubt so please help me out:
I have a website and there I have some articles on the category How to start a blog but it’s not a parent category. The parent category is blogging and it’s showing 0 articles as I haven’t selected it while the sub-category of how to start a blog has around 20 articles as I selected it for every post, but all articles are showing in both category pages? Is this duplicate content? Should I remove the parent category and make the sub-category my parent category?

    My website is shivamroyindustries.com

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

    1. We checked your sitemap and it seems to be loading just fine from our end.

    Please follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

STEP 2: Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

STEP 3: Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

STEP 4: Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and submit only the primary sitemap which is https://shivamroyindustries.com/sitemap_index.xml.

    2. If your articles are appearing on both the parent and sub-category pages, it’s not technically duplicate content, but it can dilute SEO value and cause confusion. To resolve this, you can remove the parent category from the articles if it’s unnecessary for organization.

Alternatively, you could make the sub-category a parent category if it better aligns with your site structure. Another option is to use Rank Math’s “noindex” feature for the parent category archive to prevent it from being indexed by search engines while keeping it for internal use.

    Looking forward to helping you.
