Assuming you are using the latest version of all other plugins and the current theme (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.
To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Thank you for your reply. Health check did not detect any issues (green circle). Everything is up to date, if I disable RankMath the article archive works. Maybe there is something I can tweak?
Please note that the dropdown menu activates the following address (March articles):
https://blog.coscienzamaschile.com/2021/03/
But if RankMath is enabled, the browser loads the homepage, maybe there is some redirection issue?
I deactivated all plugins except RankMath and the problem persists, so it’s not a conflict with other plugins

I added the login address and performed a general backup. Please do not perform any radically invasive action especially on the theme and let me know which solution worked, in order to reproduce it after restoring the general backup

I visited your website and I was able to replicate the issue.
Upon further inspecting, I found that you’ve disabled the Date Archives from your WordPress admin area > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc Pages.
So, I went ahead and enabled the date archives and the dropdown started working as expected.
