I switched from Yoast to your plugin for two websites that had an Alexa ranking of right around 1,000,000 (one a little below that and one slightly above).
Shortly after installation all my traffic went away for both websites. I decided to wait a few months to see if there would be an improvement, but there was none.
I’m now thinking I need to switch back to Yoast unless you can tell me how to fix this problem.
Please advise.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
It is hard to tell what exactly went wrong. There must be numerous reasons for that. Did you import all the settings from your other plugin correctly? Did you make any changes to the permalinks structure, and somehow, you forgot to add redirection for some pages? Did you import the schema structure correctly? Did you check the Google search console for errors? Maybe most of the traffic must be coming from social media, and you didn’t configure the thumbnail for the same? Did you check your robots.txt file, if it is blocking the bot from visiting your page? As I said, it’s hard to tell where the things went wrong. Please kindly check GSC for any potential errors?
Looking forward to helping you.
I believe I imported all of the settings correctly (I believe there was a wizard app that helped me), and I didn’t mess with the link structure.
Other than that, it seems to be more technical than I thought it would be after reading your response.
To make it simple, can you send me a file with optimal settings that I can import into the plugin?
Please advise.
Bob
Hello,
Unfortunately, we don’t have a pre-made setting with us at the moment. We do like to check this one, may I know the affected website so I can check it on our end, or is this the website that has issues nobledirectmarketing.com?
Also, please check for some recent errors in your Google Search Console and share it with us.
We are looking forward to helping you.
There are three websites that I’m using RankMath for:
[Moved to the sensitive data section.]
They are all connected to Google Search Console, and I checked for errors and found no errors.
Do you have a checklist I can use for optimal settings that I can use?
Also, are there different versions of this plugin? In “General Settings”, one shows 3 tabs, one shows seven tabs and another shows eight tabs. Why is that? Shouldn’t they all have the same number of tabs (free version)? For instance, Links, breadcrumbs, images, webmaster tools, Edit robots txt, others, edit .htaccess and analytics.
Why does one version only have these: links, webmaster tools and analytics. And another one is missing the analytics tab.
I really want this to work because I’ve seen other people who seem to know what they are talking about say how RankMath is such a good plugin. But I’m having big problems.
I saw one person complaining about an issue with the robots.txt file (whatever that is). They claimed that a problem with that was causing Google not to index their web pages. Could that be the problem with my websites?
Hopefully you can help me get this working correctly without having to spend hours doing it.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
Do you have a checklist I can use for optimal settings that I can use?
We have our Knowledge base: https://rankmath.com/kb/ where you can refer any settings you are not sure about or if you wish a guide to setting up. There are also a number of YouTube videos that can help you.
Few of them :
https://rankmath.com/kb/general-settings/
https://rankmath.com/kb/titles-and-meta/
https://rankmath.com/kb/score-100-in-tests/
https://rankmath.com/kb/rich-snippets/Also, are there different versions of this plugin? In “General Settings”, one shows 3 tabs, one shows seven tabs and another shows eight tabs. Why is that? Shouldn’t they all have the same number of tabs (free version)? For instance, Links, breadcrumbs, images, webmaster tools, Edit robots txt, others, edit .htaccess and analytics.
You must have disable some of the modules from the dashboard, please go though this link to learn more:

It looks like you have a physical robots.txt present inside the root folders. Please kindly delete the file from all the sites. This might be the reason for your website. Please kindly fix that.
I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.
One more question: Would it be a benefit for me to go through and do the RankMath setup wizard again so that I have access to all the advanced features?
I’ve now deleted all of the “robot.txt” files from the root directories of each of my website. However, there are still robot.txt files there. I’m wondering if they are actually in the RankMath plugins.
One thing that confuses me is what is in those files. Does this give the optimal instructions for the search engines (see below)?
User-agent: *
Crawl-Delay: 20You can see what is in each of these files by going to the following URLs.
https://nobledirectmarketing.com/robots.txt
https://yoursolutionsforlife.com/robots.txt
https://lifecoachingservicesonline.com/robots.txtIf there should be something else in these files, what should that be?
Can I edit these files using RankMath?
Please advise.
I will be looking at the tutorials today that you’ve sent to me.
Thanks for all of your help with this. I do appreciate it.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
It looks like the physical robots.txt file still present inside the root directory of your installation, Could you please delete the files again?
One more question: Would it be a benefit for me to go through and do the RankMath setup wizard again so that I have access to all the advanced features?
If you have already set up the Rank Math, then there is no need to set it up again, although you can set it up if you still want to. If you are unsure about the advanced modules inside the Rank Math, then please kindly follow the below guide:
https://rankmath.com/kb/advanced-mode/
Looking forward to helping you.
When you say, “root directory of your installation” are you telling me that there are “robot.txt” files in the RankMath plugin installation that I need to remove? Because I think I’ve removed those files from the root directories of my website files.
Please advise.
Bob
Hello,
Thank you for the follow-up.
My colleague means that you have a possible
robots.txtfile in your website’s root directory, not in the Rank Math installation folder. You will notice this site https://nobledirectmarketing.com/robots.txt, and it was already using Rank Math’s generated default robots.txt. The other two are still showing the crawl delay.
In this case, since you mentioned that there’s no physical file in those two site’s root directory, you can check this link for other possible reasons:
https://rankmath.com/kb/cant-edit-robots-txt/I hope that helps.
Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.
OK, I found the problem. I had to click the “reset options” button in the general settings and then go through the setup process again for each module. Now it looks like the Rank Math’s robot.txt file is being used.
Hello,
We are glad that you found the problem, and it is already resolved.
