Rank Math Thinks Different Keywords Are The Same

    Hello,

    While making SEO adjustments for the homepage on the website, Rank Math gave an error saying that the keyword was already used. However, when I checked, it was not. Rank Math determined its keywords as letters, not as a word fence. Below are 2 examples of keywords that Rank Math considered the same, despite being very different;

    Dizayn Akvaryum
    N Akvaryum

I request your support to resolve this error.

    Thank you,

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

We’ve tested the same keywords you shared, but we’re unable to replicate the issue.

Please update your Rank Math plugin (if not yet) for initial troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, are you using a page builder on your site (Elementor, Divi, etc.)? If so, please share the name of the builder.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello Reinelle,

There was an update for both the free and pro versions. I was able to update the free version but I can’t update the pro version yet because I can’t buy it. This year, your payment gateway (FastSpring) thought I wasn’t secure enough to renew the pro version that I’ve been using for 4 years and I couldn’t renew it. I still have a support ticket open for that, or I hope I do.

Anyway, everything seems to be fine now and everything is working correctly.

Edit:After clearing the cache, I still get the same error. The pages are created with Elementor.

    Thank you for support,

    Hello,

In this case, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We tried to check your website but the login you’ve shared is showing incorrect:

Please update the logins in the sensitive data section. Also, please share the affected page URL so that we can check this further for you.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

There are indeed duplicated focus keywords on the website as you can see from the following screenshot:
    Keywords

The second ID in the screenshot is the translation of the homepage, which contains the same focus keyword. At the moment that page cannot be edited directly because you are using the WPML translator to handle the translation of the pages, so the focus keyword needs to be changed from that place as well.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hello Miguel,

These are not exactly conflicting IDs. However, you have touched on a different topic and problem. First of all, the post IDs for the error that Rank Math is showing are 74183 and 37. They are also all in the same language. Here, 37 is the Home Page, but 74183 is just a blog post. It is not a translated page from WPML.

Now I want to mention another problem that you noticed. A keyword can be the same in every language and Rank Math will show it as an error. For example, a brand is the same in every language and cannot be translated.

The problem here is my brand name.

    Thank you,

    Hello,

The plugin shows an error when the same focus keyword is seen on the postmeta table because trying to rank different pages for the same keyword could result in the pages trying to “fight” each other rather than trying to gain an advantage in the competition.

You are seeing this error on the website for your brand name because as you can see the focus keyword with that exact value is present in two places on the database, which is where the plugin checks this.

Regarding the incorrect pages shown when using this filter, since you are using WPML you need to set the filter to all languages which will then show the other page that we mentioned in the previous reply with the ID 82805.

If you would like to disable this test, you can also do so using the following filter: https://rankmath.com/kb/disable-seo-content-tests/#keyword-not-used

    Hello Miguel,

    Hello,

The error I saw was that the keyword conflicted on a page in the same language and on a product. At least that’s what the system said. But I still wanted to test it and disabled the WPML plugin.

    When WPML was disabled, the error also disappeared. But it’s still an error 🙂 Because;

You say that the keyword conflicted because it wasn’t translated on the same page in a different language. But I was saying that it conflicted on a page in the same language and on a product.

However, when I disabled and re-enabled the WPML plugin, this error automatically disappeared (the keyword in the other language is still the same and it wasn’t translated because it’s my brand name) and it’s no longer displayed. So it’s not a problem anymore. However, I discovered other problems. I’ll write them in another ticket.

    Tank you for support,
    Toygar Niron
