    Hello,

I am facing an issue with the sitemap generated by Rank Math.
When I submit the sitemap URL (https://khatwafurniture.com/sitemap_index.xml) to Google Search Console, it always shows “Couldn’t fetch”, even though:

The sitemap opens correctly in the browser.

The server response is 200 OK.

    The XML structure looks fine.

I excluded the sitemap URLs from caching (I am using Breeze cache).

There are no redirects or errors on the server.

Interestingly, when I generate a sitemap using Jetpack, Google accepts it without any problem. This makes me think the issue might be related to how Rank Math generates the sitemap.

Could you please help me fix this so that Google Search Console can properly fetch my Rank Math sitemap?

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,
    Ahmed

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the "Couldn’t fetch" error in Google Search Console for your Rank Math sitemap. Thank you for providing detailed information about your situation.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap

Make sure your sitemap is correctly configured. You can use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to check for any issues. If it returns a success message, your sitemap is likely fine.

    2. Ensure the Sitemap is Located in the Root Folder

Confirm that your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The URL should look like this:

    3. Flush the Cache

Since you are using Breeze cache, ensure that you have flushed the cache after making changes. You can also try increasing the value of Links Per Sitemap in Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings and then save changes. After that, navigate to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes to ensure the current settings are applied.

    4. Exclude the Sitemap From Caching

Make sure that your sitemap is excluded from caching. You can refer to this knowledgebase article on ensuring that your sitemaps are excluded from caching.

    5. Add the Correct Sitemap to Google Search Console

Ensure that you have added the correct sitemap URL in Google Search Console. Navigate to Indexing → Sitemaps and paste your sitemap URL there. Make sure there are no spaces in the URL.

    6. Check for Plugin Conflicts

Sometimes, other plugins can conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any potential conflicts.

    7. Rename the Sitemap File

As a last resort, you might want to try renaming your sitemap file. In Google Search Console, go to Indexing → Sitemaps, and in the Add a new sitemap section, try submitting:

If you have tried all these steps and are still facing issues, we recommend replying to this ticket with any additional details or errors you may encounter, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

We hope this helps resolve your issue!

    Hello,

I have tried all possible solutions, but the issue still remains.

The sitemap (https://khatwafurniture.com/sitemap_index.xml) opens correctly in the browser.

    Server response is 200 OK.

I disabled caching for sitemap URLs in Breeze.

There are no redirects, and the XML structure looks valid.

I even tried submitting individual sub-sitemaps, but Google still shows “Couldn’t fetch”.

However, when I use Jetpack’s sitemap, Google accepts it without any issue. This makes me think the problem is specific to Rank Math’s sitemap generation.

I have done everything I could on my side, but it’s not working.
Can you please check and provide a fix?

    Thank you,
    Ahmed

When I upload a static XML sitemap manually, Google accepts it with no issues. This means the problem is specific to Rank Math’s sitemap.

Please advise how to fix this.

    Thanks,
    Ahmed

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

In this case, please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemap, and resubmit only the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.

If the issue persists, please try to follow this guideline for further troubleshooting: https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, I followed all the recommended steps, but it did not solve the problem. The issue still remains.
