Rank Math Plugin Not Indexing Pages Properly

We’ve noticed a recurring issue with the Rank Math SEO plugin where several published pages are not being indexed by search engines despite being marked as indexable. The sitemap generated by Rank Math does include these pages, but Google Search Console shows a significant number of “Discovered – currently not indexed” status reports. We have already verified that there are no noindex meta tags, canonical issues, or crawl restrictions in the robots.txt file. The issue may be related to how Rank Math handles automatic schema generation or priority settings in the sitemap. This is negatively affecting the site’s visibility and SEO performance.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Rank Math SEO plugin and the "Discovered – currently not indexed" status in Google Search Console. This can be frustrating, especially when your pages are marked as indexable and included in the sitemap.

Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

    1. Check Robots.txt File

Ensure that your robots.txt file does not contain any disallow rules that might prevent Google from crawling your pages. You can check this using tools like Technical SEO’s robots.txt checker. If there are any disallow tags, you can edit your robots.txt file in Rank Math by going to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Edit robots.txt.

    Edit robots.txt in Rank Math

    2. Improve Internal Linking

A poor internal link structure can also lead to indexing issues. Ensure that your important pages have sufficient internal links pointing to them. Rank Math can help you identify pages that lack internal links.

    3. Content Quality and Value

Make sure that the content on the pages is of high quality and provides significant value to users. Thin or duplicate content can lead to indexing issues.

    4. Crawl Budget Considerations

If your site has many low-quality pages, it might affect how Google allocates its crawl budget. Focus on improving the quality of your content and ensuring that important pages are easily accessible through internal links.

    5. Patience for New Sites

If your website is relatively new, it may take some time for Google to index all pages. However, if the issue persists, consider using Rank Math’s Instant Indexing feature to submit URLs directly to search engines.

    Hello,

We checked the page you’ve shared, and we can see it is already indexed on Google:

    null

However, please note that the Discovered – currently not indexed indicates Google has discovered the page, and even wants to crawl the page. But this was expected to cause an overload on the site, hence Google has rescheduled the crawl.

As a result, Google may delay this crawl for several days after it has been discovered, and the crawl status would remain empty until then.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
