The favicon can take some time to update. You need to wait for Google to crawl the website after you have made the changes to the favicon.
However, please note that the images on Google SERPs are not controlled via the Schema markup or any plugin, but rather they are taken directly from your page when Google thinks it’s beneficial for the user to show those and it mostly depends on the keyword search term and the website authority.
