Rank Math – Elementor Pro, Homepage can’t update

    Rank Math free

    Hello!
I’m currently running into an issue with Rank Math free version combined with the Elementor Pro page builder on my website voicelabdenhaag.nl. I already contacted Elementor about this, but they suggest the issue is Rank Math and not Elementor.

    The issue is the following:
When I activate the Rank Math Plugin on voicelabdenhaag.nl I can’t update the Home page. I can edit it, but it doesn’t save the update and I receive a server 500 error. On other pages I have no problem and the website works fine. I have Rank Math version Version 1.0.240 (but also on older versions I had the same problem) and Elementor 3.28. See also My video: Video To show the issue

The steps I already took after a suggestion from Elementor Support:
    1. Back up your entire site – See here: Backing up your website.
    2. Go to Elementor > Settings on your WordPress dashboard, click the Performance tab and switch the CSS print method to Internal embedding
    3. Clear all the cache memory, which includes your browser’s cache, other plugins’ cache, and server cache (if possible)
    4. If the issue persists, deactivate all plugins apart from Elementor and Elementor Pro. If this solves the problem, reactivate the plugins one by one to find the plugin that causes the issue.
    5. If this didn’t help, temporarily switch your theme to Hello and see if it makes any difference.;An employee of Elementor also got access to my WordPress to find out more about the issue, but the conclusion was that it happened on the activation of Rank Math (which I already knew) and so they sent me to you.

Do you have a solution for me for this specific issue?Thank you for your reply!

    Kind regards,
    Boukje

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with Rank Math and Elementor Pro on your website voicelabdenhaag.nl. It sounds frustrating that you are unable to update your homepage and are encountering a server 500 error.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Ensure Rank Math is Updated: Make sure you are using the latest version of Rank Math. You can check this by navigating to your WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Status & Tools → Version Control. If an update is available, please update the plugin.
Check Rank Math version from Version Control

    2. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Since you’ve already deactivated other plugins and switched themes, ensure that there are no conflicts with other plugins. Sometimes, older versions of plugins can cause issues.

    3. Server Configuration: A server 500 error can also be related to server configuration issues. Check your server error logs for more details on what might be causing the error when Rank Math is activated.

    4. Clear Cache: As you’ve mentioned clearing cache, ensure that you clear all caches including any server-side caching that might be in place.

    5. Debugging: Enable WordPress debugging to see if any specific errors are logged when you try to save the homepage. You can do this by adding the following line to your wp-config.php file:

      define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

This will help identify any underlying issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with any error messages you find in the logs or any additional details about your setup, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to resolve it quickly for you!

The bot is quite good in identifying steps I already took, but I don’t really what I could do with the debugging mode. I also just looked into my server errors in cpanel after recreating the problem and I find nothing. To clarify: the problem also occurs when I have all the plugins apart from Elementor and Rank Math deactivated.

    Hello,

Please follow the last step (5) from our bot’s reply and replicate the issue again to generate the error log.

You can follow this guide to enable debugging in WordPress
https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ or you can get in touch with your web host, and they will help you locate the log file.

Once done, please share the error here so we can check the root cause of the issue.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Dear Reinelle,

I used the WP_debug mode, it was working because I got a file with errors, but they all were related to other plugins. So I deactivated all the plugins, apart from Rank Math, Elementor and Elementor Pro. Then I recreated the issue. Unfortunately there was no error log in the WordPress file at the time that I recreated the issue.

    Kind regards,

    Boukje

    Hello,

Please check the PHP values of your site by going to WordPress dashboard > Tools > Site Health > Info tab > Server. These values affect the performance of your site and they should be set atleast to the following recommendations:

    PHP Memory Limit: 512M
    Max input time: 150
    PHP time limit: 120
    PHP max input variables: 1000

If any of these values are lower than the recommended ones, please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase them for you.

If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Dear Ike,

Thank you for your reply. Some values were way too low compared to what you sent me. So I managed to change it and now everything works 🙂 Thank you for the help!

    Kind regards,

    Boukje
