  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the unexpected redirect caused by the Rank Math plugin. There can be several reasons for this behavior, and we can help you troubleshoot it.

Here are some steps to identify and resolve the issue:

    1. Check for Other Redirect Plugins: Ensure that you do not have any other redirect plugins installed that might be causing conflicts. If you find any, consider disabling or removing them.

    2. Review Rank Math Redirects: Check if there are any redirects set up within Rank Math that might be affecting this URL. You can do this by navigating to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Redirections and reviewing the list of redirects.

    3. Inspect .htaccess File: Sometimes, redirects can be set in the .htaccess file. You can check this by going to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Edit .htaccess. Look for any rules that might be causing the redirect and remove them if necessary. Here’s how it looks:
      edit .htaccess

    4. Theme or Plugin Conflict: There might be a conflict with your theme or another plugin. We recommend performing a quick conflict check by enabling Troubleshooting mode and disabling Rank Math temporarily to see if the redirect still occurs. If it stops, try disabling other plugins one by one to identify the culprit.

    5. Check for Broad Redirects: If you have created redirects in Rank Math, ensure they are not too broad, which could inadvertently redirect multiple URLs. Review the settings of any recent redirects you’ve created.
      More than one redirection

If after following these steps the issue persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention!

    Hi there,

Yes I have already checked all other plugins, it is only RankMath doing the unexpected redirect.

I have also not enabled ‘redirections’, so this is not the issue also.

I do not know how to make changes to .htaccess file sorry, I don’t want to accidentally break something…

Just to update you, I checked the htaccess file and couldn’t see any rankmath redirections so I don’t think that’s the issue also.

Sorry I just want to ask about one more thing, my og:URL doesn’t seem to match canonical URLs, is there some way I can correct this please? They are all basically the same except canonical has a / at the end, so for example:

    OGURL: https://nellibeauty.com/category/best-skincare-ingredients
    Canonical: https://nellibeauty.com/category/best-skincare-ingredients/

    – Shall I change all of the canonical URLs to this version (without the / at the end?):
    https://nellibeauty.com/category/best-skincare-ingredients

Or will this cause some redirect issues because the canonical URL will not be the same as the ‘full’ URL?

… because the full URL is https://nellibeauty.com/category/best-skincare-ingredients/

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

It seems like the date archives option is disabled on your website and that’s why this page is getting redirected to your homepage. In this case, please head over to your WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc Pages, and from there enable the Date Archives option.

Regarding the og:url meta tag, we checked your page and found duplicate open graph meta tags. The og:url meta tag generated by Rank Math is correct but the other one is not.

It seems like the duplicate meta tags are added by your theme or any other plugin you’re using on your website. To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
