Questions on Redirection / URL rewriting

    Hi Support,
    we’re currently checking our Rank Math. In terms of the the inbuilt redirection capabilities I have two questions:

    1) Is it also possible to rewrite duplicate slugs with RM?
    Wordpress considers the same string in a permalink a non-valid duplicate, although the full URL clearly is unique. In the example below the number 2 is added, as WordPress thinks this is wrong.

    acme.com/ladies/t-shirts
    acme.com/mens/t-shirts-2

    2) I see that one can remove the category base. I wonder, if it is also possible with RM to make a custom post type-archive URL wise a child of a product category? We are using this CPT as a replacement for subcategories. For URLs and Breadcrumbs we want to create a hierarchy (shoes is a native product category). Is this doable, or will we need another tool to do this?

    Before rewriting: acme.com/cpt-name/ladies-shoes
    After rewriting: acme.com/shoes/ladies

    Hello,

    Thank you for getting in touch with us.

    1. Rank Math does not handle the slugs or slug changes. We take the default value that you use in WordPress and use as the base for the permalink.

    If you wish to change that, you can do so easily:
    https://i.rankmath.com/AQSxfA

    But, we do not handle duplicate slugs in Rank Math.

    2. We are sorry but this option is not available in Rank Math.

    This, honestly was also the expected answer. As we are new to RM though + as there’s indeed a lot of options available, I thought I’d ask, before checking out alternative tools for these tasks :o)
