    Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my previous questions. Your insights are incredibly helpful.
    1. Number of Incoming Links (External Links Pointing to Our Website):

In Google Search Console, I see 64 external links from 15 referring domains.

However, in third-party tools, the number is much higher: 201 backlinks from 20 referring domains.

Which tool should I trust? Normally, I would rely on Google Search Console, but the difference is significant. Why does this discrepancy exist?

    Average Keyword Positions:

    2. I noticed that the average keyword positions in Google Search Console differ from those in third-party tools. Which tool should I trust for accurate data?

    3. Impact of Google Ads on Organic Keyword Positions:

Our average keyword position in Google Search Console seems to be improving. However, we are also running Google Ads, which are performing well.

3.1 Is the average position in GSC influenced positively by our Google Ads performance?

3.2 How can we accurately measure our organic performance and keyword positions without being affected by paid ads?
    Thank you !!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you are facing and thank you for raising these important questions.

    1. Number of Incoming Links (External Links Pointing to Your Website)

The discrepancy between the number of backlinks reported by Google Search Console (GSC) and third-party tools is quite common. GSC provides data based on what Google has indexed and considers relevant, while third-party tools often use their own algorithms and databases to estimate backlinks. This can lead to significant differences in reported numbers. Generally, it’s advisable to rely on GSC for the most accurate representation of your backlinks, as it reflects Google’s perspective directly.

    2. Average Keyword Positions

Similar to backlinks, average keyword positions can vary between GSC and third-party tools due to differences in data collection methods. GSC provides data based on actual search queries that led users to your site, while third-party tools may use estimates or sampling methods. For the most reliable data regarding your keyword positions, GSC is typically the best source.

    3. Impact of Google Ads on Organic Keyword Positions

3.1 Influence of Google Ads on Average Position in GSC

While Google Ads can increase visibility and traffic to your site, they do not directly influence your organic keyword positions in GSC. However, increased traffic from ads can lead to higher engagement metrics, which may indirectly benefit your organic rankings over time.

    3.2 Measuring Organic Performance Accurately

To accurately measure your organic performance without the influence of paid ads, consider the following strategies:

    • Use GSC for Organic Data: Focus on the data provided by GSC for organic search performance, as it separates organic clicks from paid clicks.
    • Set Up Filters: In your analytics tools, set up filters to exclude traffic from Google Ads when analyzing organic performance.
    • Monitor Trends Over Time: Look at trends in organic traffic and keyword positions over time, especially during periods when ads are not running, to get a clearer picture of organic performance.

Thank you for your help and guidance!

I find that the bot’s responses are quite general, and I’m a little unsure if they are entirely accurate. I believe human responses would be more reliable.

Regarding the links in the sensitive zone, I noticed that the response seems to encourage indexing them. However, my objective is to analyze whether it’s beneficial to index them. I’ve observed that some links contain words that act more like tags or are not particularly interesting, so it might be better not to index certain links.

I also have questions about the number of backlinks compared to third-party tools.

Additionally, I’m curious about the impact of Google Ads research campaigns on keyword rankings in Google Search Console. Is there a way to differentiate and see rankings for organic search versus paid search within the console?

Once again, thank you for your support and expertise!

    Hello,

    1. Google Search Console (GSC) reports only the links that Google has crawled and deemed relevant, while third-party tools use their own databases and methods to estimate backlinks. Differences in crawling frequency, indexing criteria, and data sources explain the variations. If you’re optimizing for Google, GSC is the most reliable source.

    2. If you’re unsure about indexing certain links, you can analyze their impact using GSC’s Performance Report to see if they drive meaningful traffic. If the links are low-value (e.g., tag-like words or duplicate content), you may consider using the noindex directive for those pages.

    3. Google Ads do not directly impact organic rankings, but they can increase site visibility and engagement, which may have an indirect effect over time.

To differentiate organic vs. paid search rankings, use Google Ads Reports in Google Analytics or analyze the Search Performance report in GSC, which only reflects organic results.

    We hope this helps.

    Thank you.
