Rank Math’s Sitemap URL is /sitemap_index.xml. In your case, you can set up a redirect on your site from /sitemap.xml to /sitemap_index.xml by inserting this code in the .htaccess file:

RewriteRule ^sitemap_index.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=1 [L]

RewriteRule ^([a-z]+)?-?sitemap.xsl$ /index.php?xsl=$1 [L]
# END of Rank Math Sitemap Rewrite Rules
Google will still see the sitemap generated by Rank Math as your /sitemap.xml is already redirected to /sitemap_index.xml once the code is applied.
