Problems with SEO with Google

    Rank Math free

    Hi,
I’m having SEO problems specifically with Google (so less with Bing). It seems Google is having difficulties reading/managing the SEO of my website. I haven’t touched any critical settings and most are on default (I’m on the free version of the plugin), I don’t know where the problem is to be honest… I also recently just optimized my website to have excellent performance and my blog posts are high quality and unique. One of the problems, for example, is keeping Google “happy” with my sitemap… I uploaded the sitemap url (https://gaiagazer.com/sitemap_index.xml), yet, overtime, it seems it loses some urls or pages, and many of the blog posts urls when I inspect them, it says “no referring sitemaps”… Plus, with over 160 blog posts and almost a year (~ 10 months) of having the blog running, I’m still not being able to reach even 1k impressions on Google for A MONTH. Once I reached 20k but for some reason that was a spike that simply just went and then I’m back to zero… I’m skeptic about RankMath to be honest. Any help?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you are facing with your website’s SEO on Google. Thank you for providing detailed information about your situation; it helps us understand the problem better.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issues with your sitemap and overall SEO:

    1. Check Your Sitemap Submission

Make sure that you have submitted the correct sitemap URL to Google Search Console. You should submit the sitemap available at `https://rankmath.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/index-status-2.jpg. If you are experiencing issues with URLs disappearing from your sitemap, it could be due to custom canonical tags or conflicts with other plugins.

    2. Inspect Your Sitemap

You can check if your sitemap is being generated correctly by visiting it directly in your browser. Ensure that all your blog posts are listed there. If some URLs are missing, it might be due to custom canonical settings or other configurations.

    3. Check for Plugin Conflicts

Sometimes, other plugins can conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any potential conflicts.

    4. Monitor Indexation Status

Utilize the Index Status report in Rank Math’s Analytics to identify any pages that may not be indexed properly. Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Analytics in your WordPress dashboard and click on the Index Status tab to see the real data/status of your pages.

    5. Review Google Search Console

Check the Coverage report in Google Search Console for any errors or warnings related to your pages. This can provide insights into why certain pages are not being indexed.

    6. Content Quality and Updates

Even though you mentioned that your blog posts are high quality, ensure that they are regularly updated and optimized for SEO. Google favors fresh content, so consider revisiting older posts to enhance them further.

    7. Consider Professional Setup

If you want to ensure that your Rank Math setup is fully correct and adheres to the latest SEO standards, we recommend our professional setup service. This service requires a PRO subscription but can provide comprehensive assistance tailored to your needs.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket with any specific error messages or findings from Google Search Console, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to help you resolve these issues soon!

    Hello,

Please note that each time Google uses a sitemap to find a URL, the count of the discovered URLs increases by one.

Sitemaps are only one of the few methods Google uses to discover your URLs, so it is fine for your articles to be referred to by other URLs on your site.

The “no referring sitemap” means Google didn’t use the sitemap to find the URLs.

Here’s a link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/no-referring-sitemaps-detected/

In this case, you should check your Google Search Console > Indexing > Pages section to determine any issues reported on your URLs that may have prevented your site from being indexed:

You can share the screenshot of the report here so we can check it as well. You can upload screenshots using this tool and add the link here.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Pages report page: https://imgur.com/a/hIF7dYv
You can see 144 pages not indexed. However, many of them are OK not to be indexed (like /feed posts, other redirect posts, etc.). But, about 30-35 posts are not indexed due to: “Crawled, currently not indexed”, and the source is Google systems. I assume these are pages/posts that Google found but didn’t rank for who knows why… no necessity maybe, or lower quality in Google’s eyes, don’t know.
Regarding sitemap, for some reason it adds/deletes (or forgets…) certain sitemap areas. In the link, you can see the “good” sitemap behavior in GSC. However, prior to resubmitting the sitemap again to Google, it forgot the “posts” sitemap and was showing only the pages sitemap. Weird.
Back then, I just installed RankMath and used the default settings mostly, didn’t change anything except for very minor “preference” features. Not something that would “break” stuff. Isn’t RankMath ready once installed or should it require some necessary professional tweaking?? I’m worried because I have a feeling Google isn’t reading/understanding my pages/posts as it should, despite following SEO’s best practices (I’m not new to SEO, my titles/sub-headings and paragraphs, all SEO optimized per best practices, no keyword stuffing, even images has alt where necessary, etc.)… Any insight is appreciated… I just want to make sure that RankMath is not holding my website’s SEO back…

    Hello,

The Crawled – currently not indexed status means Google has crawled these pages but has not indexed them. Finding a certain number of URLs with this status is entirely normal because Google does not index all the URLs we submit at the same time.

This isn’t an error but there are some reasons for excluding the pages from its index. Here’s a link for more information and how to fix it: https://rankmath.com/kb/crawled-currently-not-indexed/

There is nothing you can do to solve the Crawled – Currently not Indexed status other than wait for Google to start indexing them, as it means that Google has successfully crawled the URLs but hasn’t decided to index them yet due to reasons only known to them.

This has nothing to do with the technical aspects of the website, which is what our plugin can control.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
