    Hi Guys,

I’m sorry I didn’t respond to the last ticket but everything crashed and I got lost.

Turned out that I had to edit the FAQ schema with html because the page was giving me a critical error!

I am really having problems with the plugin although i would love if I wasn’t. I think it would be good to consider it is really intrusive on an years, old established website.

    Please see screenshots.
It stripped out my google analytics code for one thing. I had to manually re-add it after days of not noticing. I hope that didn’t hurt my overall ranking.

It also rewrote my robots.txt and .htaccess file. I did not ask it to do that, it was automatic.

In an email you guys said it doesn’t do it automatically but it did and so all my 301s there were gone and now I have to redo them.

Was this because I gave the plugin auto access to my GA account?

My ranking has tanked, see screenshots of your own data and GA. Last time I asked in email I was told this is natural ebb and flow, but I have had the site 12 years and know the difference between a google update and something seriously going wrong.

Despite that, on my dashboard your stats say that ranking is improving. What is going on please?
I don’t know whether to go pro or erase this thing.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Let’s run through some troubleshooting steps:

    1. Please make sure that you are running the latest version of both the Free and PRO plugin: https://rankmath.com/changelog/
In case you are running an older version, please update.

    2. After checking that let’s head over to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Analytics and make sure that all the appropriate options are selected. Including the “Install Analytics Code” if you are not adding that via another plugin.
    Analytics settings

    3. If everything is correct on that page let’s try to import some fresh data from Google. To do that, please follow this tutorial: https://rankmath.com/kb/delete-old-analytics-data/

Regarding the .htaccess file, our plugin doesn’t change that automatically but in case the change was made accidentally by someone with access, if it’s done via Rank Math we save a backup of the file in the root filter of your website which can easily be set as the default once again if something goes wrong.

Also, giving access to Google Services won’t change anything automatically in the .htaccess or robots.txt file, and in fact, the robots.txt file if it’s present on your website you cannot change it from within our plugin.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
