Problem with Sitemap Not Updating – Only Old Deleted Post Appears

#1098392
  • Hi Rank Math Support Team,
I’m facing an issue with the sitemap on my WordPress site (https://kharidaccount.ir). The sitemap (sitemap_index.xml and posts-sitemap.xml) only shows an old post that was redirected (301) to an “About Us” page and then deleted. My three new posts are not appearing in the posts-sitemap.xml, even though they are published and indexed in Google Search Console.

    Here’s what I’ve tried:
Cleared SEO cache and rebuilt sitemap in Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools.
Ensured “Posts” is included in Sitemap Settings and no posts are excluded.
Flushed server cache (via cPanel and LiteSpeed) and cleared Permalinks (Settings > Permalinks > Save Changes).
Removed the old redirect in Redirection Manager.
Re-enabled sitemap after toggling it off/on, but got a 404 error temporarily (now resolved).
Despite these steps, posts-sitemap.xml still only shows the deleted post, not the new ones. Can you help diagnose and fix this? Please let me know if you need admin access or specific logs.
Site: https://kharidaccount.ir Sitemap: https://kharidaccount.ir/sitemap_index.xml WordPress Version: [6.8.2] Rank Math Version: [1.0.252.1]
    Thanks for your support!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap not updating correctly. It sounds like you’ve already taken several important steps to troubleshoot the problem, which is great.

Here are a few additional suggestions that might help resolve the issue:

    1. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can interfere with the sitemap functionality. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any potential conflicts.

    2. Verify Post Visibility: Ensure that the new posts are set to "Public" and not set to "Private" or "Draft". Only published posts will appear in the sitemap.

    3. Review Robots.txt: Make sure that your robots.txt file is not blocking the new posts from being indexed. You can check this in Rank Math under Rank Math SEO → General Settings → robots.txt.

    4. Check Custom Canonicals: If you have set custom canonical URLs for your new posts, they may not appear in the sitemap. Ensure that you are allowing Rank Math to generate the canonical URLs for these posts.

    5. Flush Permalinks Again: Although you’ve already done this, sometimes it helps to do it again after making changes. Go to Settings → Permalinks and click "Save Changes" without making any modifications.

    6. Clear Cache Again: After making these changes, clear your website cache once more to ensure that the latest version of your sitemap is being served.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket with any specific logs or errors you encounter, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!
