Problem with %seo-description%

    Hello

I have configure in settings page %seo-description% by default.

In every page I edit snippet and write my own text as Google description.

But in Google show other text, show the first paragraph.

This has been going on for months, almost a year. I can’t find a solution no matter how many times I check why and this is seriously damaging my SEO.

I changed the template because I thought it was too old. I removed plugins… but it doesn’t work properly.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the %seo-description% not reflecting correctly in Google search results. Thank you for raising this concern.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check What You Have Set Using Rank Math: Ensure that you have correctly set the SEO Meta Title and Description using the Rank Math plugin. You can refer to the following images for guidance:

      • Classic Editor:
Editing Meta Title and Description using Classic Editor
      • Gutenberg:
Editing Meta Title and Description in Gutenberg
    2. Ensure Your Schema Settings Are Valid: Check that the settings in Rank Math’s Schema tab for the post or page show %seo_title% for the Headline and %seo_description% for the Description. This ensures that your SEO title and description are used in structured data. Here’s what it should look like:
      schema-settings-meta-description-title

    3. Check the Title/Description Set in the Page’s Source Code: Right-click on your page and select View page source to confirm that your title and description are set correctly in the source code. Alternatively, you can use this online tool to check.
Check the Title and Meta description set in the page's source code

    4. Verify Indexing Status: Use Google Search Console to check if Google has indexed the latest version of your page. Enter your page’s URL in the URL Inspection Tool and check the Last Crawl date. If it’s before your changes, you can request indexing to prompt Google to re-crawl your page.
      Inspect URL on GSC

    5. Understand Google’s Behavior: Sometimes, Google may choose to display a different meta description based on what it deems more relevant to the search query. This is beyond our control, as search engines automatically determine what to display.

If you have checked all these aspects and are still facing issues, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can assist you further. A human agent from our support team will take over and provide more specific help.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We checked your homepage and we can see Google has changed the meta title but the meta description is showing properly:

That means Google is already aware of the correct metadata of your website. Nowadays, Google does that very commonly. Even when everything is fine, Google may choose to display a different meta title and description for your search query result. Google may skip the custom metadata you have set and instead display something from the page’s content that better matches the search intent.
