We use some of the same libraries between the Classic Editor and the Block editor to keep the experience consistent. That is why both the link boxes look and work the same way.
I am sharing your feedback with our dev. team and if there is a way for us to incorporate the new look without breaking the linking features we add like the nofollow and sponsored rel tags, we will do it during a future release of the plugin.
