    Hi there,

I have a problem with my sitemap index in the Google Search Console of my website : blog-maman.fr

Google Search Console can’t read it. It’s loaded but there is 0 pages inside for Google Search Console. In reality there is something like 10-20 pages.

    GSC

Please let me know how to fix this bug.

    Best,

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Upon checking your sitemap index, the page is just a blank.

Can you please follow these steps?
    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

After that, please head to your GSC and remove the previously submitted sitemap then resubmit your main sitemap(sitemap_index.xml).

If this doesn’t help, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping in touch with us.

Checking your WordPress admin dashboard, I can’t seem to navigate to other Rank Math settings and the plugin page. Please elevate the access so that we can troubleshoot this further.

We are looking forward to helping you.

    Okay i changed it.

    It should be ok now

    Hello,

I accessed https://blog-maman.fr/sitemap_index.xml getting a white blank page. And accessing https://www.blog-maman.fr/sitemap_index.xml gets me to your sitemap page, which is the actual correct path.

Loading with non-www shows this error:

Unsafe attempt to load URL https://www.blog-maman.fr/main-sitemap.xsl from frame with URL https://blog-maman.fr/sitemap_index.xml. Domains, protocols and ports must match.

Checking your URLs it seems that you have your redirections set up wrongly.
    https://i.rankmath.com/0g5XuR

http://domain.com is pointing to https://domain.com and
    http://www.domain.com is pointing to https://www.domain.com

You need to have all 3 variations to point to 1 single variation, in this case, https://www.domain.com, as that is what I see you set up in your WordPress SiteURL.

Please talk to your web host and ask them to help you with the correct rewrite code to use in your htaccess.

I hope this helps you with your issue.

    Thank you,

I just send a mail to my host support. They will fix the redirection problem.

But your answer doesn’t explain why my sitemap index is not read by the searc console.

I put https://www.blog-maman.fr/sitemap_index.xml on the search console, so the redirection problem should not affect it.

You confirm than my sitemap https://www.blog-maman.fr/sitemap_index.xml is entierely correct ?

Do you have some ideas to fix my problem ?

    Hello,

As my colleague advised, you need to have all 3 variations to point to 1 single variation, in this case, https://www.domain.com, as that is what I see you set up in your WordPress site URL.

This is the reason why the search console is giving errors for the sitemap.

Once you have successfully redirected to a single variation. Submit the sitemap_index.xml to the search console.

This should resolve the issue. Looking forward to helping you.

I don’t understand why all 3 variations don’t point to 1 single variation

    1. Because i modified the htaccess 2 days ago and added :

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain.com
    RewriteRule (.*) https://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    2. The http to https redirection is on too (with a wp module).

Maybe there is some cache problem ?

    Hello,

    Thank you for following up.

    1. I’ve checked your sitemap, and it seems that it’s still not redirecting the non-www to the www version of your site. You can also use this tool as well.
    Sitemap WWW

You can check this link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#5-check-for-the-correct-version-of-the-sitemap

    2. The HTTP to HTTPS is already working fine.

If you have already implemented the redirection, you can flush your sitemap cache by following these steps in this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/xXXhDt

Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.
