We encountered almost the same issue as reported by another user here, but instead of Gutenberg Editor, ours was with the Classic Editor. We use the Disable Gutenberg plugin (version 2.5.1) on WordPress 5.7.2.
Our issue is that when we select multiple categories, the radio button does not appear for us to choose the primary category (as is with the above report). This issue occurred only after we updated Rank Math SEO to version 1.0.70 (possibly even one version before that) as previously everything worked fine and we were able to choose a primary category for our posts.
We tried to use another plugin, Select Primary Category (version 1.0) by Deniz Ă–zsen to force the selection of a primary category, but neither the permalink nor the breadcrumb in the front-end changes to reflect the chosen primary category.
We searched everywhere for a solution but couldn’t find anything until we stumbled upon the above report. What struck us was the last reply which says, “I’ve just tested Yoast SEO’s Primary Category feature, and it works as expected in the block editor. The Make Term Primary string on the screenshot is from the Rank Math plugin.”
Could this be something that has slipped under your radar?
