I second this, I also cannot assign a primary category. The radio buttons next to categories in the right column when editing a product where you assign the primary are now gone.
I have the same experience. Client contacted me today to ask why it was missing. Is there an easy fix?

That should fix the issue you are facing since the last update.
Also, you can use the version control feature in such unfortunate cases to revert back to an older version
