prevent redirect loop (ignore case?) when using contains to scan keywords

We have made some revisions in the past that ultimately led us to the right url structure.

To prevent having to make multiple exact redirects, we tried using ‘contains’ as an alternative.

But this will create a redirect loop. How can we prevent this?

    Case:
    old url’s
    /poorten/looppoorten-industrie/
    /looppoorten-industrie
    should all redirect to
    /industrie/looppoorten

but logically, when using 2 ‘contains’rules like: contains “industrie” AND contains “looppoort” REDIRECT TO ‘/industrie/looppoorten’

The redirect will get looped redirected.

i tried putting ‘/industrie/looppoorten’ in IGNORE CASE, but this doesn’t work how i imagined.

How can we make a general ‘redirect’ using ‘contains’ that will not trigger a redirect to itself. Can we have an ignore case that has the normal/right url?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with fixing a redirect loop on your website.

Since you have created a ‘contains’ redirect that has the same word in the redirect destination, The redirect loop is being created. Please consider using a different condition like contains ‘/looppoorten-industrie’ or ends with ‘/looppoorten-industrie’

Once you have set the correct redirect condition based on that advice, the redirect should start working as expected.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

That is what i already knew. What surprised me is that the first IGNORE CASE: industrie/poorten is not ignored. I expected this to ignore any url like domain.nl/industrie/poorten

What is the use of ignore case?

The flexibility of my question would mean that without knowing what old urls result in 404 ( disregarding the monitor) all those url would be properly redirected and much more user friendly.

    Hello,

The “Ignore Case” function will allow you to match URLs whether it is capitalized or not. For example, without the Ignore Case enable and you set the redirection rule to match for /poorten. The redirection will not work on /POORTEN but when you enable the Ignore Case option, then the redirection will trigger.

    Looking forward to helping you.
