Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math.
Having multiple categories won’t benefit your SEO. You should only assign posts to multiple categories if it makes the most sense for your readers. It’s possible that having your post in multiple categories could cause some SEO issues due to duplicate content.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Ok thanks for your advice. If I’m not mistaken, categories are set to noindex by default in RankMath. Is this the recommended setting?
Hello,
Category pages can become an issue if they are causing conflict and ranking for terms you’d prefer other specific pages to be ranking for.
All the pages within the category have duplicate content of the category page. Indexing category pages depends on the site structure, you can read more about this here:
https://www.searchenginejournal.com/noindex-category-archive-pages/374867/
https://doyouevenblog.com/seo-category-pages/
If you wish to index the categories, go to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Categories > Enable Category Archives Robots Meta > Check index checkbox
https://rankmath.com/kb/titles-and-meta/#category-archives-robots-meta
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
Thanks Anas, will read up on this.
Also, I think you guys should have external links open in a new window here in this support section. Definitely would be better UX in my opinion
