Hi,
I submitted the sitemap and got success. But then in the post sitemap, it shows a 404 HTTP error, and all the posts are not submitted to Google. I tested individual posts as well.
Please refer to the attached image.
I excluded the sitemap from caching and tried again but no difference.
Please help me in resolving the issue.

Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with your post sitemap. Thank you for raising this concern.
Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Validate Your Sitemap
Make sure your sitemap is correctly configured. You can validate it using the Validate XML Sitemap tool. If there are any issues, they will be highlighted.

2. Ensure the Sitemap is Located in the Root Folder
Check that your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The URL should look like this:
https://yourdomainname.com/sitemap_index.xml3. Check Post Indexing Settings
Ensure that your posts are set to index. Go to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and make sure the Index checkbox is enabled for your posts.

4. Flush Permalinks
Sometimes, flushing permalinks can resolve issues. Go to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard and click Save Changes without making any changes.
5. Check for Plugin Conflicts
If the issue persists, there might be a plugin conflict. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any conflicts.
6. Clear Cache Again
After making these changes, ensure to clear your website cache again and try submitting your sitemap in Google Search Console once more.
If you continue to experience issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.
Hello,
We checked your post sitemap and it seems to be loading without any issues as you can see from the screenshots in the sensitive data section.
Please follow the steps below:
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/3. Apply the following filter code to your site.
add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/
4. Lastly, remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and submit only the primary sitemap (
https://yourwebsite.com/sitemap_index.xml).If the issue persists, please click on the Post sitemap (with the error) in the GSC to reveal the details of the error and share a screenshot of it here.
Hope that helps.
Hello,
I manually requested to index the posts by pasting URLs on GSC. I think that might be the reason it is showing up now.
I have implemented the suggested steps given, cleared all cache, resubmitted the sitemap URL, and the error still exists.
I have updated the error screenshot as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
Your post sitemap is working fine now. Please wait for Google to read it again and the issue should be resolved.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hello Jaideep,
The post sitemap is not working still. Please refer to the no-referring sitemap image. All the blog posts are not pointing to any sitemap. However, the blog posts are indexed since I manually indexed them.
Please help in resolving the issue.
Thank you.
Hello,
The “no referring sitemap detected” means the page has been discovered by Google, and Google knows about it.
Please note that a sitemap is only one of many ways Google discovers the URLs of your site. If Google discovers the URL through other means, it may not cross-reference your sitemap to check if the URL is there. Hence the “No referring sitemaps” message.
However, the 404 error on your post-sitemap could have occurred because of the caching from your W3 total cache plugin.
In this case, please follow this guide to exclude the sitemap files from your caching plugin: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
I can understand that Google cannot recrawl back to assign it to sitemap. I will clear the cache again or wait for some more time to get it sorted.
I also feel there is no issue with the sitemap as long as the blog posts are getting ranked.
Thank you for explaining.
