In addition above, long URLs are not a very good user experience because they make it difficult for users to get the actual purpose of the website.
While adding the post ID to a post URL might be beneficial, if you are going 3 or 4 levels deep it starts to become cumbersome for some users.
That’s the main reason to enforce the short URLs on the website, to improve the user experience.
For Google and other search engines, it doesn’t make much difference as the bots are able to make sense of the structure but it’s recommended to shorten those to make it easier on your users.
