Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with Polylang and Rank Math causing 404 errors on your category pages. Thank you for raising this concern.
Since you have already implemented the compatibility code from the provided link, we recommend double-checking the following:
-
Ensure the Code is Correct: Make sure that the code you added to the rank-math-ppl.php file is up to date and correctly implemented. You can refer to the instructions in the article to verify.
-
Permalink Settings: Sometimes, simply re-saving your permalink settings can resolve 404 errors. Go to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard and click Save Changes without making any changes.
-
Check for Conflicts: Disable other plugins temporarily to see if there’s a conflict causing the issue.
-
Clear Cache: If you are using a caching plugin, clear your cache to ensure that the changes take effect.
If you have checked all of these and the issue persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and assist you further.
Thank you for your patience!

How to Make Polylang Compatible With Rank Math
Hi,
I have verified everything and the problem is still there.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
The compatibility for the feature needs to be added by Polylang, and they are not willing to add compatibility for our plugin. We have tried to reach out to them many times but since they aren’t willing to add the compatibility, there is nothing we can do to make the options work with their plugin.
You should disable the Remove Category Base option of our plugin and use the “No Category Base” plugin for that, as it is compatible with Polylang.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thanks.
Thank you for your suggestion. It seams that No Category Base is no longer compatible with Polylang. I will try to discuss with Polylang support too
Hello,
You can try getting in touch with Polylang. However, they have refused to add compatibility for our plugin. So, you should keep the Remove Category Base option disabled to avoid getting 404 errors for the category URLs.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
