Polylang Pro – Second Language: Rank Math Sitemap

    Hello Rank Math Team.

I am using the Polylang Pro plugin to offer a customer website in two languages. At Polylang there is the possibility to use a subdomain for a language. So my setup now looks like this:

    https://domain.de/
    https://en.domain.de/

Both the domain and the subdomain link to the same FTP directory to make the Polylang Pro option work. Now I was wondering if Rank Math would include both variants in the sitemap to be indexed by Google? Or do I have to use the normal setup again, so:

    https://domain.de/
    https://domain.de/en/

    Kind regards,
    Manuel Hudec

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Right now, the Polylang team must add the compatibility code to their plugin so you should contact their support and ask them about that.

If you prefer, we already submitted to their team a working solution that you can implement by yourself meanwhile they update their plugin.

To do that, you should implement the changes we submit on this link in the functions.php file in your active theme: https://github.com/polylang/polylang/pull/373

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hello Alberto,

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I don’t really understand Github and I’m not sure which lines I have to add to my functions.php.
Could you please write me specifically what I need to copy?

Is it also possible to put the corresponding code into a snippet of the Code Snippets plugin? I rather use this plugin for custom code than the functions.php.

    Hello Manuel,

You do not need to do anything with the code.

You just have to contact the Polylang team and ask them to implement that code that we have already provided into their plugin to fix this issue.

    Hello Todd,

I have forwarded the relevant proposals to Polylang but it will probably take some time before this is actually implemented.

Therefore, I would like to use them already now, as Alberto suggested them to me.

    Yours sincerely,
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,

This is the required code change:
    https://github.com/polylang/polylang/pull/373/commits/5eb7014f3c567fd75886f4121f9db2ea1dd9f1de

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thanks a lot, Todd!

Your plugin version of Polylang works if you don’t output the second language via a subdomain. When I set up a subdomain in Polylang, the article does not appear in the site map.

Also it seems that your plugin version has English as default language. You can change this setting in Polylang, but these changes will not work.
