Hi,
We are having an issue with Pinterest.
When we pin images from our blog posts on to Pinterest, the title of my pins is being changed to this weird title that says: “Hosted Site Search & Discovery for Companies of All Sizes” instead of Outer Banks, North Carolina. See example pin here:
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/87186942774193960/?nic_v2=1a208PwbuWe thought it might be an issue with Rich Pins either being disconnected or not working properly, and we sent a request to Pinterest support and this was their response:
“I have checked your pin: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/87186942774193960/ and web page URL: https://www.ytravelblog.com/fun-things-to-do-in-outer-banks/ and see that you have installed Rich pin tags in your website.
However, I have checked your source page and see that you have installed both Open Graph and Item prop tags. As the Open graph has been installed first in the header so the Pinterest system will consider Open Graph tags only.
I see there is a lot of space between the tags that you have installed. So I would suggest you place the tags once again as it is in our developer documentation and please do add any spaces between the tags then add your data between the inverted commas(” “) that you want to insert for your rich pins.
I would suggest you please contact your web hosting company to help you accordingly.
If you wish not to see the Rich pins on your pins then do let me know so I could help you accordingly”.
We then contacted our developer who said:
“Your site metadata looks correct on output otherwise Facebook and co would complain as well so seems to be Pinterest specific. And I have no idea where the spacing issue they mentioned is, there’s no real code space at all in the header of your site. Might be worth asking the RankMath folks since it’s their output that controls how the open graph tags Pinterest are using get output”.
Can Rank Math please shed some light on this? As it is affecting all my Pinterest images.
Thanks,
Craig
