I have to keep checking my pages because every once in a while, randomly, pages seem to lose the permalinks I have set up within RankMath and default to something else. I don’t know what is causing it and have not noticed any correlation.

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with your permalinks disappearing. This can be frustrating, and we appreciate you bringing this concern to our attention.

There are a few potential reasons why this might be happening:

    1. Other Plugins: Sometimes, other plugins installed on your website can interfere with permalink settings. It’s a good idea to check if you have any other redirection or SEO plugins that might be affecting your permalinks.
    2. Theme Conflicts: Occasionally, the theme you are using may also cause conflicts with permalink settings.
    3. Server Configuration: Issues with your server configuration or .htaccess file can also lead to unexpected changes in permalinks.

To troubleshoot this issue, I recommend following these steps:

    • Check for any other redirection plugins installed and remove them if found.
    • Temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme to see if the issue persists.
    • Review your .htaccess file for any unusual rules that might be affecting permalinks.

If the problem continues after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to resolving this for you!

I do not have any other redirection plug ins.
The issue is not consistent enough for me to switch to another theme on our live website and wait for it to happen again.
How do you suggest I Review my .htaccess file for any unusual rules that might be affecting permalinks? Where is that file and what am I looking for?

    Hello,

Could you please share the affected URL/s so we can check as well?

Meanwhile, try refreshing your permalinks if the issue happens again on your WordPress dashboard > Settings > Permalinks > save the settings without changing anything.

    Looking forward to helping you.

It has happened on every page of my site at one point or another besides the home page. It is not currently happening. Last instance was when I created this ticket.

    Hello,

In this case, please monitor the situation when the issue happens again.

If it does, follow the steps we shared previously to flush your permalinks.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Hello it has been six days since i last posted about this ongoing issue and this is a serious problem. Please update me on the status of this.

    Hello,

Apologies for the delay, as this ticket seems to have been stuck in our drafts section for some reason.

This usually happens when the Redirect Attachments option is enabled on your site, and you have a media or attachment URL with the same slug.

If that is the case, you can re-upload the media with a different file name or at least rename the attachment URL to a different slug to avoid getting the -2 or -3 in the last part of the URL.

Let us know how this goes.

First- you guys have mentioned this “draft” issue several times for not responding to my tickets. Can you please look into that? This is at least the 3rd time that has happened.

Second- I have many images on every page of my site and as I mentioned before, the permanent links have changed for many of them. I did a search for the slug “things-to-do-in-the-adirondacks-andguestinfo” “about-adirondack-vacation-rental and our booking page slugs (all of which have had issues in the past) within my media assistant and no images came up with those names.

How should i proceed? Do you want me to follow the instructions to the link you provided and add a code snippet?

I continue to keep getting page indexing errors for redirects and 404 that have been set up months ago but continue to not work according to my google search console. You can see my tickets for these issues. perhaps there is a deeper redirection issue?

    Hello,

Sorry about that. Your ticket is no longer in draft or pending moderation.

As for your issue, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

The About page and Home page permalinks were both changed when i just now checked. The latter is odd because I cannot even change the Home page permalink myself so something is clearly causing this to happen. This is the second time I have sent you the log in credentials for this issue. Please examine the site thoroughly so we can resolve this once and for all. It is very concerning to me that I have a brand new site that I am working hard to build up the SEO on and if the links don’t work, that is going to hurt my SEO as well as cause internal links to not work correctly.

Following up on the status of this??

    Hello,

Sorry for the delay in response, as the messages you sent here in the ticket were moved to pending moderation and as such didn’t enter the queue of tickets.

We have gone ahead and approved your reply so our team can see your ticket in the queue.

Back to your issue, the temporary login you shared has expired. Can you please renew or extend it so we can check the issue further?

Again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience you experienced.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Please please please get this fixed quickly. See the thread on this. You keep telling me it’s a “draft” or “pending” so no one responds and this issue has been going on for months. I cannot keep waiting for a fix or keep updating your log in. I have updated it now. You have 7 days to fix this. Please respond immediately.

    Hello,

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

We would like to try to debug this but the issue is not happening on your website right now.

Please share any affected page here so we can debug this further, as the last URL you shared no longer exists.

If there are none at the moment, kindly let us know if the issue recurs again and share the affected URL here (don’t fix it yet).

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
