Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.
You definitely shouldn’t change your URLs if the reason for doing so is just simply an aesthetic one, or even to try and make the URL more relevant towards a certain keyword.
I have checked your screenshot and from that, it is visible that the URL is related to the subtitle
link. If you put subtitles
instead of movies
it would fit more in this scenario. So it is better to plan before creating any link.
When these are changed, even individually or in the case of a 301 redirect, it will take time (sometimes weeks or months) for Google to recrawl those pages and start to understand the relationship between the old URL and the new URL. As a result, there will be less visibility, less traffic during this time.
So, the key point is – unless you have a very good reason to change your URL structures, then don’t.
Hope this clarifies your doubt. If there’s anything else we can help you with, please let us know.
Thank you.
Got it.
My site only provides subtitles.
In that case, should I change now? What is your opinion?
Does its help for improving my SEO?
Hello,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
Actually, it does not depend on our opinions. It’s totally up to the Search Engine.
As your site has subtitle-based articles so it would be better to have subtitles on your permalink instead of movies. Because Google also checks the content of the URL to show it on SERP. Though you might lose some traffic at this moment for the recrawling, it will be beneficial for you in the future.
Hope this helps clarify your doubts. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
