Hello my blog post url in google shows only the category name for spesific posts. I mean all my posts habe the the same for example website.com/guides. Wouldnt it be better for SEO to show the actual name too for example if my post name would be “best lollipops 2021” so the url would actually show in google like website.com > best lollipops 2021 and not website.com > guides for every blog post. And if so, how to change that?

I can see that people who have the url structure like that are positioned better on google. For example im on 3rd position about mouses and my url is like mywebsite.com/guides and the one in 1st and 2nd position dont have any categorys showing, just websitename.com/best-mouses-2021

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

You can select the option to show only the post name after your website’s URL by going WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and selecting the Post Name, then you have to click the save button.

You might need to clear your website and browser’s cache to see the changes.

Hope this helps you. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

Hello it’s set like that, just the same way than your image. I mean i would like it be shown in google search results like that website.com/post-name/ but instead all my site posts are showing in google results website.com/category, no matter the post.

Or does it even matter its like that?

Top ranked posts about the same subject are shown in google for example techmouses.com/post-name. Mine is showing mywebsitemcom/category-name. It goes to the post tho. But i was thinking would that make better seo if it was showing the actual post name

    Hello,

Could you please confirm that your Posts are included in the sitemap?

You can enable it by going WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings > Post Types > Post:

    Then please follow these steps:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Then resubmit your main sitemap sitemap_index.xml on GSC.

Here is an article on how you can submit your sitemap to Google:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

Hope this helps. Looking forward to your update.

    Thank you.

    Yes they are enabled.
    1. Flushed the sitemap
    2. Excluded them (This was new to me)
    3. Resubmitted to GSC.

I just feel like my problem is somewhere else. Im getting good rankings in google with my blog posts, thanks to this great plugin <3 I think i couldn’t explain my problem. Still wondering is it better that the actual blog post name shows in search results? For example, if you Google “Best Cars 2021” that the search results shows website.com > posts actual name, or does it matter if its website.com > just category?

I added an screencast to try to explain better. If you google “best gaming mouses 2021” you can see the rank #1 post has the post name/title name visible in search results and other ones below have the category. For example the 4th result is the way my site is looking. Website.com/articles.

    Hello,

Those are breadcrumbs which are usually picked from the breadcrumbs displayed on the page itself.

Could you confirm if your website is https://www.pc***er.com/? If yes, I checked a few pages and the breadcrumbs only include the categories. You can have a look at the screencast in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

Though it doesn’t have many benefits, if you wish to add it to the SERPs, then you can modify the breadcrumbs structure of your website from Rank Math > General Settings > Breadcrumbs.

With that being said, please note that it is totally up to Google to show/hide the breadcrumbs, and its structure on the SERPs.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
