  • Hello,

    We apologize for the issues you are facing with your pages not being indexed and your sitemap not updating.

    Pages Not Indexed

    If your pages are not indexed, it could be due to several reasons:

    1. Crawled – Currently Not Indexed: This means Google has crawled your page but has not indexed it yet. It’s normal for some pages to fall under this status. You can check for duplicate content, perform a content audit, and ensure that your pages provide significant value to users. For more details, you can refer to our guide on how to fix the "Crawled – Currently Not Indexed" error.

    2. Discovered – Currently Not Indexed: This indicates that Google has found the page but hasn’t crawled it yet. You can check for technical issues, improve internal linking, and ensure there is no thin or duplicate content. More information can be found in our article on fixing the "Discovered – currently not indexed" error.

    Sitemap Not Updating

    If your sitemap is not updating, it may be due to server configuration issues. Here are some steps you can take:

    • For Apache Web Server: Ensure that you have the correct rewrite rules in your .htaccess file. You can add the following code:
      # START of Rank Math Sitemap Rewrite Rules
      RewriteEngine On
      RewriteBase /
      RewriteRule ^sitemap_index.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=1 [L]
      RewriteRule ^([^/]+?)-sitemap([0-9]+)?.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=$1&sitemap_n=$2 [L]
      RewriteRule ^([a-z]+)?-?sitemap.xsl$ /index.php?xsl=$1 [L]
      # END of Rank Math Sitemap Rewrite Rules
    • For Nginx Web Server: You may need to add similar rewrite rules in your Nginx config file:
      # START Nginx Rewrites for Rank Math Sitemaps
      rewrite ^/sitemap_index.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=1 last;
      rewrite ^/([^/]+?)-sitemap([0-9]+)?.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=$1&sitemap_n=$2 last;
      rewrite ^/([a-z]+)?-sitemap.xsl$ /index.php?xsl=$1 last;
      # END Nginx Rewrites for Rank Math Sitemaps

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. If the above steps don’t seem to work, kindly apply the following filter to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

    Here’s how you can add filter/hook to your WordPress site:
