Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the page URL changing unexpectedly. To revert the page URL back to `http://www.example.com you can follow these steps:
Changing the Page URL in WordPress
- Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
- Navigate to Pages: Go to Pages > All Pages.
- Find the Page: Locate the page that currently has the incorrect URL (in this case, it seems to be the one with the URL
homepage-2
).
- Edit the Page: Click on the title of the page to edit it.
- Change the Permalink: Just below the title, you will see the permalink. Click on Edit next to it and change it to
events
.
- Update the Page: After making the change, click on the Update button to save your changes.
Preventing Future URL Changes
To prevent this from happening again, consider the following:
- Check Permalink Settings: Go to Settings > Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard and ensure that your permalink structure is set correctly.
- Avoid Duplicate Pages: Make sure that you do not have multiple pages with similar content or titles, as this can sometimes lead to confusion in URL assignments.
- Use Rank Math’s Features: If you are using Rank Math, ensure that you are utilizing its features properly, such as setting canonical URLs if you have similar content across different pages. This helps Google understand which page is the primary one.
If you encounter any issues while following these steps or if you need further assistance, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Please note that Rank Math doesn’t automatically change your page URL.
However, we can see the homepage-2//
page is returning a 404 error but the /events/
page is working properly. Can you please share where did you see the URL changed? You can also share a screenshot here by using any image-sharing tool like https://imgur.com/upload so that we can check this further for you.
Looking forward to helping you.
Well, I did change the URL back to events manually because that very URL (events) was sent out to people for something time sensitive and I couldn’t wait any further. I will just pay attention to it because both times it happened after I updated the plugin.
