Page Indexing issues in GSC

    Hi Team,

We are facing some issues related to Page Indexing in GSC. Approximately 5k+ pages are showing ‘Not Indexed’ due to multiple reasons. For e.g. – Crawled – currently not indexed, Alternate page with proper canonical tag, Page with redirect, 404 etc.

Most of the URLs showing there are inappropriate. Not sure why/how that came into picture in GSC.

    [Edited]

Not sure why ‘2022/08/13’ dates OR ‘comment-page’ are getting added & thus leading to 404.

We have few outstanding questions –

1] Can we redirect all of these links to the parent/correct one to save time? If we do so will Rank Math be able to handle 5k+ redirections in the dashboard?
    OR,
2] Are there any alternative solutions for the same?

    Please help us. Thanks.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with your GSC crawling and indexing issues.

The “Crawled – currently not indexed” notice means Google has crawled the pages but has not yet indexed them. If the pages are set up correctly, they will eventually get indexed.

Pages with redirects will not be indexed. Only the redirect destinations (without redirect) will be indexed. If you.

The post titles with dates, or with ‘comment-page’ were existed before on your website but have since been changed/removed. You can create 301 redirects to the new links for example, redirect link with a date to the same URL with the date part removed, or ‘comment-page’ links redirect to the original post. You can safely ignore 404 errors for pages that do not exist anymore and don’t have alternative links.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

    Hello,

The pages that were changed to a different URL should have a redirect so that the page rank gets passe over to the new pages.

Regarding the number of redirections, if you are going to add nearly five thousand of them we recommend using the server configuration file to get better performance.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hi Team,

You have mentioned about server configuration file. Can you please share any KB for the same or any other 3P document to achieve?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

You can refer to this guide:
    https://www.redhat.com/sysadmin/beginners-guide-redirects-htaccess

However, we’ll recommend getting in touch with your web host to add the redirections.

    Hope this helps.

We look forward to helping you.
