Please ignore > in the given links (https://drive.google.com/uc” >), because that does not show in the real code (Maybe endtag for bold?)
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us again.
Can you please confirm if you have contacted the support from the plugin “WP Media Folder google Drive Add-on” that is responsible for generating the Google drive link in our og:image
tag?
You may let us know what’s their take since the source is coming from their end.
Looking forward to helping you with this one.
Hi Jeremy,
Great question. I contacted their support before I made this ticket. Their answer was:
Hi,
Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.
I have checked your website, the feature image on the page: https://regioonline.nl/regio-den-helder/annie-kloosterboer-compliment/ display correctly.
But the value of meta og:image tag is not correct, see my screenshot. It caused the image doesn’t show when sharing this page on Facebook.
Maybe some change from the plugin RankMath recently cause this problem. Could you contact with the developer of RankMath to fix this?
Thanks,
So surprisingly they said this was on your end??? I am no expert at this. They provide following screenshot

The code they are refering to is set in top of the RanKMath code (metatags), but if you look on the given page further down below in the script (wich I can not place here for security reasons I think?) that that the link link to the Google Drive image is complete in several scriptlines (see screenshots below):

Hope this sheds some light on the issue.
Thanks in advance for your time and effort!
Hello,
It seems that Rank Math was indeed able to receive the complete URL. However, our filter code removes the URL query parameter that was recieved, hence, the incorrect URL added to your og:image
tag.
Allow me to check this with our developers to see how we can provide a workaround.
We appreciate your time and patience on this one.
Thank you.
Hello,
I just heard back from our developers and it seems our filter is indeed not accepting URL query parameters from a Google Drive URL.
With that said, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Our developers have noted this issue and they will include a fix in the next update of our plugin.
We will inform you once we have added that fix or you may also keep an eye on our changelog to get notified of our latest features and updates: https://rankmath.com/changelog/
Looking forward to helping you with this one.
Thanks Jeremy for getting back at me with this. Apologies excepted but not necessary. You always give great support at RankMath, so these things happen sometimes. Ofcourse we hope the fix with the next update will be soon, but don’t forget to eat or sleep. We are not in that kind of a hurry 😉
Thanks again Jeremy. If you don’t mind I will keep this ticket open until next update.
Kind regards
Hello,
Thank you so much for understanding the situation!
We really appreciate your kind patience regarding this matter and will surely keep the ticket open till you want.
Thank you
Hi great people of RankMath,
Just a follow-up after your last update to let you know that showing Facebook images is working again. You changed some code witch fixed above problem and I had to do something to. I have 3 screenshots for you from the adjustments I made to:
wp-content/plugins/seo-by-rank-math/includes/opengraph/class-image.php
1. The new code I think you added: https://imgur.com/yIHqqs2
2. The part I commented out before but is no longer effective to problem: https://imgur.com/BefKrVg
3. The solution that works, commenting out the complete part of code: https://imgur.com/SuxbwMl
This fixed the described problem and the issue that Facebook was not displaying a featured image from a post. Keep in mind that our situation was a bit unique maybe, because we use a WP Media Folder plugin to place all our images on Google Drive (so none in the WP uploads folder), and use FS Auto poster to autopost aal posts to about 40 different social media pages, including about 30 Facebook pages.
You already helped us previously with this, so we are again greatfull for your help!!
Just one more question:
Now, after every RankMath update, I have to remember to change (comment out the shown section) in the class-image.php. Is there a way to do this in our childtheme somehow, or do I just need to keep my eyes open for a new update and make the changes manually at that time?
Thanks in advange for your time!
Hello,
Unfortunately, no. There’s no such way to implement the fix on your child theme.
Sorry, but yes, you’ll need to make the changes manually when you update Rank Math.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thank you.
No problem! I will just have to make a reminder for myself. Thanks again for all your work and great support. I will mark this ticket now as resolved!
