Hi
I need to ask two questions:
1) I need to know if I can add and optimize SEO parameters on a live site (active and published) without putting it into maintenance.
2) My site detects 404 errors related to deleted content (for example, photos present on the installed theme that I deleted from the site). Also, every time I add new photos on wordpress, if I click on the permalink it does not find the content and it gives me error 404. How can I fix it?Thank you in advance for your answer.
Greetings
Simona

Hello,
Thanks for contacting us!
1. Absolutely! You can optimize and improve your website’s SEO and for which you do not need to consider putting your website into maintenance.
2. Flushing your permalinks might solve the issue. To do this, head over to your WordPress admin area > Settings > Permalinks, and click on the Save Changes button.
If that doesn’t help, then it would seem like an issue with your .htaccess file. https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/2850/404-when-fetching-image-from-wp-content-uploadsPlease let us know how it goes.
Thanks!
Thank you first of all for your very quick response!
I tried to do as he advised me but they keep coming out of me these 404 errors:
1) asset-manifest.json
2) wp-content/uploads/2021/02/cropped-Profili-Faceb…
3) wp-content/plugins/translatepress-multilingual/a…
4) wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Illustrated-Shutter-S…
5) wp-content/plugins/wpfront-scroll-top/images/ico…
6) wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Instagram-Image-min-3…
Can you help me?Hello,
Thank you for the update, and sorry for the delay.
Could you confirm if these 404 are showing in Rank Math’s 404 Monitor module? If not, please also record a video screencast using a tool like Loom showing the issue and edit the first post on this ticket in the designated Sensitive Data section.
It is completely secure, and only our support staff has access to that section.
Thank you, and looking forward to your update.
Yes, I can confirm that these 404 errors are displayed in rank math’s 404 Monitor module.
Hello,
Thank you for the update.
Please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:
https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitorThat will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.
You can also fix these errors by redirecting them to a related page on your website:
https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/Or, you can add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths
I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance.
Ok,I understand. So can I be quiet? Can these 404 errors affect the stability of my website?
Anyway I will try to do as you advised me and thank you for the help!Hi there,
Yes they could destabilize your site in terms of the functions they play.
What we mean for is the two plugins wpfront scroll top and translatepress they might not work properly since their files are not loading on the site. Thats all we can say from the small snippet of code you showed us.The next thing would be check with the respective developers of those plugins to see if they can assist with the 404s.
Cheers.
Ok, I will try to follow your advice. thanks again!
Hello,

Please let us know how that goes.

Hi, just today I got these 404 errors displayed in rank math’s 404 Monitor module:
apple-touch-icon.png
apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png
apple-touch-icon-120×120.png
apple-touch-icon-120×120-precomposed.png
I have never put these images on my site… Can you help me?
Hello,
Thank you for the follow-up, and sorry for the delay.
I’ve searched for this kind of 404 errors and it seems that a user from Safari Web browser (Apple devices) visited your site and the browser tries to fetch the site icon.
You can check the links below for more information and how to fix:

Thank you for your answer. The problem is that I am not very experienced and I did not understand much of what was written in the article… could you help me with these two points?
1) Create two png files. One named apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png and the other named apple-touch-icon.png. The size of the png files should be about 100 X 100 pixels square.
So Do I have to create two .png files with a “white” background or any other color? As long as they are 100×100 pixels in size?
2) Save these two files in the root directory of your website alongside favicon.ico.
What is the root dyrectory of my website with favicon.ico? Do I need to upload the two .png files to the “media” section of wordpress?
Thank you in advance, I really appreciate your help!
Hello,
Thank you for the follow-up, and sorry for the delay.
1. Yes, based on the instructions in the link a .png file/image (regardless of the color) should work with a resolution of 100 x 100 px.
2. You can access your website’s root directory through FTP or File Manager within your cPanel. If you’re not sure how to do these, please get in touch with your web host for further assistance regarding this matter.
I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance.
Hi, I did as you recommended and it seems that now apple icons no longer give error 404!
But now I have this 404 error: baindex.php
Could it have been caused by the addition of icon files?
Thanks in advance for the help!Hello,
Thank you for the update, and sorry for the delay.
It seems that the addition of those apple icon files would not result in that
baindex.phpyou are getting in the 404 Monitor. Those apple icon files will just help Apple software users to not throw 404 errors if they can’t find the apple icon. Please also note that we don’t have information on how or why it is generated. If you believe that file should be accessible from your website, you can redirect it to its respective URL.
I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance.
