Open in new tab from product tables

    Hey guys,

    I’m using Affilatable.io product boxes and tables, but I didn’t set them to open in a new tab when I created them. I’ve got loads on my site, so I don’t want to have to go through them all to edit them.

    I spoke to them, and they said Rankmath could open all external links in a new tab. I checked, and I already have that enabled. However, when you click links in product tables, they do not open in a new tab. It seems the external link class is not applying to buttons.

    I’ve tried this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/open-external-links-in-a-new-window/ and that works fine, and they open in a new tab, so I’m not sure why Rankmath isnt working.

    Any ideas?

    Please follow this tutorial guide and only keep Rank Math enabled along with the Tables plugin and a default WordPress theme and see if the links open in a new tab: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

    Hello,

    The links that are missing this target are added via HTML already and the HTML includes this tag but empty so our plugin bypasses those because it assumes that you are already handling this any other way.

    Since you are already controlling these with HTML you can quickly add this tag value in there.

    Hey Miguel,

    Thanks for that; however, I’m still a bit confused. I’m not sure what tag I need to add.

    Would I need to go into every table on the site and edit the HTML?

    Is there a way to do this globally?

    Also, do you know why this had happened in the first place and how I can prevent it from happening again?

    Hello,

    You need to change every instance of target="" to target="_blank".

    You will need to do this for every table. Rank Math does not have an automated way to do it. Please check with the affiliatable team if they have a solution.

    Rank math looks for links without a target attribute and updates them to whatever setting you have chosen. If Rank Math comes across existing target attributes, it skips them. Please check if you can set the target to blank in the affiliatable settings. If not, please check if you can disable the adding of target atttribute in affiliatable. Beyond that, there is not much we can do.
