Please head over to Rank math> General settings and make sure the option is turned on then hit the save button once even if you don’t make any changes. Let us know if the issue persists.

Hmm, it’s not working for me. External links still don’t open in a new tab.
I’ve tried deactivating all plugins except Rank Math and switching to Twenty Twenty default theme.
We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

I just restored your test post and clicked the link, and it didn’t open in a new tab for me.
I’ve tested it in incognito mode on Chrome. I’ve tested it on Safari. I’ve tested it on my wife’s laptop. None of those worked either.
But the moment I roll it back to 1.0.42.3, it begins working.

I have tried by myself in two different computers to see if I could replicate the issue on your website with no luck. Could you provide us a screencast (for example using https://loom.com which is free) showing us how the issue is happening to you?

It seems to be working now. I didn’t change anything. Perhaps I was still being served stale content from my CDN. I purged it today to fix a different issue, so maybe that fixed it for me.

The issue still has not resolved for me.
What I did:
I ensured the feature is on.
The link is in the WP editor field.
Cleared the website cache on my WP Engine hosting.
Cleared browser cache from all time and pulled up an incog window.
It only started working again when I rolled back the version to 1.0.42.3.
I work at an agency and this is happening across all sites.
