1. I disabled all redirects -> site is still on 404
2. I disabled Rank Math -> site turned normal
3. I re-enabled Rank Math -> site continues to work normal
4. I re-enabled all redirects -> site continues to work normal
But external links still not open in a new tab.
Solution? Shall I roll back to 1.0.44.1?

I see the issue on your site but I couldn’t reproduce it on my setup. I even tried importing the content from your site but still no luck. Can you add your site’s FTP access in the Sensitive Data Section so we can debug the issue by editing some plugin files?

The Open link in the new tab option is not working when the Nofollow Image option is enabled in the Rank Math settings. It’s a bug in the plugin and I have logged it. Please allow us some time to test and release a fix. It should be added to the plugin in the upcoming update.
For now, to fix the issue on your site, I changed the condition on line 152 in wp-content/plugins/seo-by-rank-math/includes/frontend/class-link-attributes.php file:
replaced:
if ( ! $this->nofollow_link && $this->new_window_link && $this->nofollow_image && $this->add_noopener ) {
with:
if ( ! $this->nofollow_link && ! $this->new_window_link && ! $this->nofollow_image && ! $this->add_noopener ) {
This seemed to have fixed the issue. Can you please confirm?
