    Hello!

    In the data below we are having a really hard time getting some data to update in the page source.

    <meta property=”og:title” content=”Rainbow Helicopters, Oahu, Hawaii” />
    <meta property=”og:description” content=”Spectacular helicopter tours above Oahu” />

    I’d expect it to pull from the SEO title and description…. It isnt tho

    The page was copied and updated and has old descriptions form where? We can seem to get these to match the current site.

  • Hello,

    I apologize for the issue you are facing with the og:title and og:description not updating correctly. It can be frustrating when the expected data does not reflect on your page source.

    Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Rank Math Settings: Ensure that you have set the correct SEO title and description in the Rank Math settings for the specific page. You can do this by navigating to the Rank Math Meta Box on the edit screen of your page or post.

    2. Clear Cache: If you are using a caching plugin, clear your site cache. Sometimes, cached versions of your pages may not reflect the latest changes.

    3. Social Media Caches: If you have previously shared this page on social media, platforms like Facebook and Twitter may cache the Open Graph data. You can use the Facebook Sharing Debugger to scrape the URL again and refresh the Open Graph data.

    4. Inspect Page Source: After making changes, inspect the page source to ensure that the updated og:title and og:description tags are present. You can do this by right-clicking on the page and selecting "View Page Source" or using developer tools in your browser.

    If you’ve gone through these steps and the issue persists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern, and we look forward to helping you resolve it!

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

    The Opengraph metatags (og:) are different from the SEO title and description. While it is possible for their values to be the same, they are configured differently.

    Kindly refer to this guide on how to correctly configure your opengraph metatags: https://rankmath.com/kb/open-graph-meta-tags/

    We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for the help! I looked at that article and changed the variables in the admin under pages and the items are not updating even if I resave the page. Am I editing the wrong ones to update the og:graph?!

    FYI %seo_description% is what I suspect is pulling up the “old phrase” <meta property=”og:description” content=“Spectacular helicopter tours above Oahu” />

    I have no idea where to edit this in the settings.

    NOTE THE TESTSERVER IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/IfVYGPd
    Strangely editing rank_math_facebook_description makes a change to what is being pushed into the og:graph

    How do I edit this to work as expected for all the posts?

    Thanks!
    Dave

    Hello,

    Your Schema title inherits the variable %seo_title% and the description should show %seo_description% – this will ensure your SEO title and SEO Description that you set up via Rank Math can also be used for your Schema details.

    In this case, please check the social media tab if there’s a custom title/description set there, as it overrides the ones in Titles & Meta options

    Looking forward to helping you.
