    Hello,

I am writing to you because we have issues with LinkedIn fetching of og:title

For some reason, it does not respect plugin settings for the page and it takes the WordPress default page name.

We have inspected the source code and the browser inspector, and everything seems to be right, but for some reason, if the page name in WordPress settings is Home on LinkedIn fetching “Home” is fetched while SEO settings are as they should be.

Do you have a similar experience, or is this unique for us?

The problem is on multiple websites, as we noticed.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with LinkedIn fetching the og:title tag. It can be frustrating when the settings do not reflect as expected.

From your description, it seems that LinkedIn is not picking up the og:title set by the Rank Math plugin and is defaulting to the WordPress page name instead. This can sometimes happen due to caching issues or how LinkedIn processes Open Graph tags.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Clear Cache: If you are using any caching plugins, clear your website cache and server cache. This includes any CDN caches if you are using a service like Cloudflare.

    2. Check Open Graph Tags: Ensure that the og:title tag is correctly set in the source code of your page. You can use the Facebook Sharing Debugger to scrape your URL again, which may help refresh LinkedIn’s cache as well.

    3. Inspect Minification Settings: If you have minification enabled on your site, it might be affecting how tags are outputted in the source code. Try disabling minification temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

    4. Gzip Compression: If you have gzip compression enabled, consider disabling it as it can interfere with how Open Graph tags are detected by social media platforms.

    5. Test with Other URLs: If possible, test with different URLs to see if the issue persists across all pages or is isolated to specific ones.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with the specific URLs of the pages where you are experiencing this problem. A human agent from our support team will then be able to assist you further.

Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

I have temporarily fixed the issue by renaming the page as it should be, but to be different and visible for inspection, I have added three dots at the end

    Hello,

We’ve checked your site using the Post Inspector tool, and it seems that LinkedIn is not using the og:title meta tag.

You can also check the page’s source code, where Rank Math already outputs the metadata correctly.

However, please note that LinkedIn prioritizes the oEmbed code instead of the OpenGraph meta tags.

For a workaround, you can choose to disable the oEmbed by following this guide:

I have the same issue. LinkedIn was using the name from the breadcrumbs structured data instead of og:title. Very weird. Didn’t had this problem before.

    Hello,

@Hidde If the og:title is already set in your page’s source code, then it is up to LinkedIn to choose the title as we have mentioned above, they prioritize the oEmbed code.

Here’s a workaround you can follow for that:

    Looking forward to helping you.
