    Hello

I’m facing a critical issue on my website where a large number of non-existent pages are being indexed by Google. I recently checked Google Search Console and found that there are many URLs listed as “not found” or “currently not indexed,” which is concerning for my site’s SEO health.

When I look at the Rank Math dashboard, it shows that only a small fraction of my pages are indexed, and I’m not sure why this is happening. I’ve tried various troubleshooting steps, but the problem persists. I rely heavily on Rank Math for managing my SEO, so I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue and prevent these non-existent pages from being indexed. Thank you!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with non-existent pages being indexed on your blog website. This can indeed be concerning for your site’s SEO health.

To address this issue, here are a few steps you can take:

    1. Check for Orphan Pages: Ensure that there are no orphan pages on your site. An orphan page is one that has no internal links pointing to it, making it difficult for search engines to discover. You can improve your internal linking structure to help Google find and index the right pages.

    2. Review Your Sitemap: Make sure your XML sitemap is up to date and does not include URLs of non-existent pages. You can regenerate your sitemap using Rank Math and submit it again to Google Search Console.

    3. Use 301 Redirects: If there are non-existent pages that were previously indexed, consider setting up 301 redirects to relevant existing pages on your site. This will help guide both users and search engines to the correct content.

    4. Remove URLs from Google Index: You can use the URL removal tool in Google Search Console to request the removal of specific URLs that should not be indexed.

    5. Monitor Crawl Errors: Keep an eye on the Crawl Errors section in Google Search Console to identify any problematic URLs that may be causing issues.

    6. Improve Site Quality: As mentioned in our knowledge base, improving the overall quality of your site can help with indexing issues. Ensure that your content is valuable and that your site structure is optimized.

    Hello,

You should use the URL inspection tool of your GSC account to inspect those non-existent URLs and check the referring page where they are coming from.

Once you know their referring page, you can remove or update them so Google won’t discover those kinds of URLs.

    Looking forward to helping you.

I will do this for sure!

    Hello,
