I am getting a lot of Excluded by Noindex tag errors in the search console. Normally we keep tags noindex in rankmath and this error comes sometimes in search console but in my search console this error is coming in many numbers in multiple sites.

If these errors come in such a large number, then they will consume all the resources of the google crawler, then how can we fix these errors?

Similar hundreds of error are showing in search console.

    Hello,

As long as Google is able to crawl those URLs, yes, that’s definitely going to burn your crawl budget.

You can prevent Google from crawling your tags and save your crawl budget by adding a rule to your robots.txt file like the below:

    Disallow: */tag/*

Here’s how you can edit the robots.txt file using Rank Math:

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

Even if I use the disallow tag, the error will show in the search console. Even then the crawl budget will be burnt.

    Hello,

Google is smart enough not to exhaust your budget because of these things.

Moreover, these noindex archives are already excluded from the Sitemap as well. So, unless you stop linking to these from your posts/pages – Google will keep trying to crawl them. You could just delete all tags and remove all references to them from your website in order for Google not to see them at all. But, that largely depends on how you use tags or whether you get traffic on these archives or not. I personally do not use tags and wouldn’t recommend it for any website unless they have 1000s of posts/pages that need to be organized with Categories + tags. For the majority of websites, categories are sufficient to organize your content.

    Hope that helps.

Okay, I will stop using tags, but how will the existing errors be fixed?

    Hello,

They should be slowly get fixed after a few crawls by Google.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.
