    Hey there,

I have a webpage with various posts, and for some reason, Google does find a “Noindex” tag on them. I went through the documentation and changed every thing mentioned there in teh setting of RankMath but still there is a noindex tag I am not sure where it’s coming from.

Could you please check and let me know if you have any idea where this is coming from?

    BEst,
    stefan

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the "Noindex" tag on your webpage. It can be frustrating when you’ve made changes but still see the same status in Google.

Here are a few things you can check to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Rank Math’s Titles & Meta Settings: Ensure that the noindex setting is not set as a default value in your Titles & Meta settings. You can do this by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta in your WordPress dashboard. Make sure that the settings for your posts are configured correctly and that they are set to "Index" if you want them to be indexed.
Set Noindex in Titles and Meta Settings

    2. Search Engine Visibility Settings: Go to Settings → Reading in your WordPress dashboard and check the Search Engine Visibility section. Ensure that the checkbox labeled Discourage search engines from indexing this site is unchecked. If it is checked, it will apply a noindex tag to all posts and pages.
      Leave Search engine visibility unchecked

    3. Robots.txt File: Check your robots.txt file to ensure that it is not blocking Google from crawling your pages. If a page is blocked from crawling, Google may not recognize that the noindex tag has been removed.

    4. Plugins or Themes: Sometimes, other plugins or themes may add a noindex tag to your pages. Temporarily disable other SEO-related plugins to see if the issue persists.

    5. Hacked Site: In rare cases, if your site has been compromised, a hacker might have added a noindex tag. Ensure your site is secure and check for any unauthorized changes.

If you’ve gone through these steps and still cannot find the source of the noindex tag, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!
