Nofollow not automatically added if it is Mediafire

#261638
  • I am using wordpress 5.8.1 and Rank Math SEO Free version 1.0.72. Nofollow and Open New Tab are not automatically added if that domain is Mediafire dot com.

Nofollow External Links: Automatically add rel=”nofollow” attribute for external links appearing in your posts, pages, and other post types. The attribute is dynamically applied when the content is displayed, and the stored content is not changed.”
and Open External Links in New Tab/Window

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

We’re unable to replicate this issue upon testing. Could you please share the affected URL to check?

Meanwhile, assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

I have an article on how to use a mouse on a windows 11 computer. In this article I insert 2 download links, which are Google Drive and Mediafire links. Of which, only one of them shows nofollow, open new tab.

    Hello,

The Mediafire link is an external URL so the “Nofollow” and “Open External Links in New Tab/Window” should be applied. In your case, it doesn’t so we may need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
