I’m facing an issue with my GSC where no referring sitemaps are detected. Despite multiple attempts to request indexing, nothing has changed, and my webpage remains unindexed by Google. Now what to do for indexing?
-
Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with your Google Search Console regarding the lack of referring sitemaps and the unindexed webpage. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:
-
Check Your Sitemap: Ensure that your sitemap is correctly generated and submitted to Google Search Console. You can find more information on how to create and submit a sitemap in our guide here.
-
Verify Sitemap Submission: After submitting your sitemap, check the Sitemaps section in Google Search Console to confirm that it has been processed without errors.
-
Manual Indexing Request: If your website still hasn’t been indexed after checking your sitemap, consider submitting a manual indexing request. However, keep in mind that relying on manual submissions may indicate that improvements are needed on your website.
-
Content Quality: Ensure that the content on your webpage is unique, valuable, and comprehensive. Google may not index pages that it deems low quality or duplicate.
-
Internal Linking: Use strong internal links from other pages on your site to the unindexed page. This can help Google discover and index it more effectively.
-
Wait for Reindexing: Sometimes, it may take time for Google to reindex your pages, especially if they are new or if there have been recent changes.
If you continue to experience issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
The “no referring sitemap detected” means the page has been discovered by Google, and Google knows about it.
Please note that a sitemap is only one of many ways Google discovers the URLs of your site. If Google discovers the URL through other means, it may not cross-reference your sitemap to check if the URL is there. Hence the “No referring sitemaps” message.
Regarding the indexing issue, please check your Google Search Console Page Indexing report to determine any error reported on your site: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=en
You can share the error message or take a screenshot using this tool and add the link here so we can check as well.
Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
Hello,
The URL is getting
Crawled - currently not indexedstatus. The “Crawled – currently not indexed” means Google has crawled your page but has not indexed it yet. Finding a certain number of URLs with this status is entirely normal because Google does not index all the URLs we submit.
This isn’t an error, but there are some reasons for excluding the pages from its index.
Here’s a link for more information:
https://rankmath.com/kb/crawled-currently-not-indexed/Please note that Google considers various factors while indexing. Your frequency of posting and your site’s domain authority are just two of the many factors Google considers when indexing new web pages.
Google assigns a crawl budget to your website depending on these factors (especially these two), and that has a direct effect on how soon (i.e. how efficiently) your content can be indexed.
Looking forward to helping you.
