Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the sitemap in Google Search Console. It seems like there might be some confusion regarding the sitemap URL.
The sitemap provided by Rank Math is typically located at https://rankmath.com/kb/configure-sitemaps/ and you do not need to change its name tohttps://rankmath.com/kb/configure-sitemaps/. Instead, you can try submitting the following URL directly in Google Search Console:
https://rankmath.com/kb/configure-sitemaps/
This URL is a different way to access your sitemap and may help resolve the issue.
To submit this in Google Search Console:
- Log in to your Google Search Console account.
- Navigate to Indexing → Sitemaps.
- In the Add a new sitemap field, enter
?sitemap=1 (make sure to include the domain part before it).
- Click Submit.
If you continue to experience issues, please ensure that your sitemap is accessible by checking it with this tool: HTTP Status Checker. This will help confirm if there are any accessibility issues with your sitemap.
If you need further assistance with the setup or configuration of your Rank Math plugin, we recommend checking our detailed guide on how to configure sitemaps or consider our professional setup service available at Rank Math Services for comprehensive assistance.
Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope this helps resolve your issue!

I’m totally confused now. Can you please help me how to rename the sitemap.
Hello,
No, you won’t need to rename your sitemap.
Google displays the “No referring sitemaps detected” message when it discovers your URL through means other than the sitemap. For example, Google can find your URL through backlinks or links from other websites.
Here’s a link for more information:

Looking forward to helping you.
Helle Reinelle,
I have submitted the sitemap to Google on the 10th of October again, because some parts could not be read before. Now everything is read read sucessfully. The website is indexed but all thumbnails have dissappeared and google is using an very old external website.
In Addition Google search console has reported for all images that page resources could not be found, but only on the crawled website not on the live website.
Hello,
Now I have again the message from google search console that the page sitemap couldn’t fetch.
Hello,
It seems that you already marked this ticket as “Resolved”. Do you still need our assistance regarding this issue?
Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
Hi,
Unfortunately the problem is not solved.
I’ve validated the sitemap flushed the cache and checked that’s excluded from caching in the Caching Plugin Accelerator and included to the htacess file the following:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule .* – [E=Cache-Control:no-cache]
The Hoster confirmed that our server has no transient cache and bots have access to the URL of the sitemap.
I have submitted the sitemap link https://perivet.com/page-sitemap.xml on the 15.10 and at the moment the status in Google search console is succeed for category-sitemap.xml and and page-sitemap.xml but not for the post-sitemap.xml. Goggle can’t fetch the post-sitemap.xml.
In the Google search console it is still stated that there’ is referring sitemap found for the start page. It uses a page that was linked to our oour old website on http://www.perivet.com.
Regards,
Nina
Hello,
We’ve checked your sitemap, and it’s loading perfectly fine. Since Google Search Console shows the status as “Success”, it means there’s no issue with the sitemap itself. Please note that it isn’t necessary for Google to always refer to your sitemap when indexing a page as the sitemap serves mainly as a backup discovery method. Google may have already found and indexed your pages through internal links or manual submissions via the URL Inspection tool so there’s no need for Google to refer to the sitemap.
Regarding the post-sitemap.xml that Google can’t fetch, could you please share an updated screenshot from your Sitemap report in Google Search Console? This will help us check the exact issue and guide you further.
Looking forward to helpign you with this one.
Hello,
Please note that when you submit your sitemap on GSC, it takes some time to crawl and process it fully. During this time, you may see your sub-sitemaps blank/not read.
In case, you’ve been facing this issue for a long time then you can remove all your submitted sitemaps and resubmit your /?sitemap=1 only to your Google Search Console.
Once done, give Google some time to recrawl your sitemaps. You can monitor the “Last read/crawl date” column in the sitemap index as it will update the date when Google crawls your sitemap.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you
