If in case you don’t want Google to crawl any of your pdf files, then you can just add a Disallow statement in your robots.txt: Disallow: *.pdf

Thank you for the follow-up, and apologies for the delay.
A direct PDF file cannot be set as noindex since noindex is used in the HTML code and a PDF does not contain any HTML code.
You can block out bots from crawling the PDFs by following the steps my colleague mentioned above.
Even then, the PDF might be indexed but the chances are low because the disallow in the robots.txt file is a suggestion and not a directive.
To remove a PDF from Google, you will need to remove the PDF link from the Google cache by heading to your Google Search Console > Removals.
