Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the schema on your news website. To ensure that your site uses only the NewsArticle
schema, you can follow these steps:
-
Schema Settings: Go to the Rank Math settings in your WordPress dashboard. Under the Schema tab, ensure that you have selected the NewsArticle
schema type for your posts.
-
Remove Other Schemas: If you have other schemas applied to your posts, you may need to manually remove them. This can be done by editing each post and ensuring that only the NewsArticle
schema is selected.
-
Check Post Types: Make sure that your post types are configured correctly to be included in the News Sitemap, as Rank Math will automatically apply the NewsArticle
schema to those posts.
-
Use Schema Markup Testing Tool: After making changes, use Google’s Rich Results Testing tool to verify that only the NewsArticle
schema is being used.
Regarding your second question, yes, using the NewsArticle
schema is indeed beneficial for news websites as it helps Google understand that your content is newsworthy, which can improve visibility and potentially drive more traffic to your site.
If you would like a more comprehensive setup or assistance, we recommend considering our professional setup service available at Rank Math Services. This service ensures that your plugin setup adheres to the latest SEO standards and is fully optimized for your needs.

Hello,
Thank you so much for getting in touch.
The additional schemas you see are Rank Math’s default structured data types, and they help enhance your site’s SEO in different ways. It’s not necessary to match your competitor’s setup, as having multiple relevant schemas is generally beneficial.
However, if you’d like to keep only the NewsArticle schema, you can remove the defaults by following this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/remove-organization-schema/
And yes, NewsArticle is indeed the most relevant schema type for a news website, but additional schemas can further support your SEO.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.
Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for your reply.
After I posting here I thought that in news website, theres need to post some blog post, news, videos and all so from setup I off the auto schema that I will choose the schmea on that post.
But, In that case, what I can do..?
Let say, If I select news schema so post have just schmea, if any blog post published so that post published with article schema and there is only article schema post should be visible.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
You can keep auto schema disabled and manually select the most relevant schema type per post.
For example, use NewsArticle
schema for news updates and Article
schema for regular blog posts. This way, each post will have the correct schema for its content type, and search engines will understand it better.
We hope that helps, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
By doing this, still I am getting some extra schema’s… like attached in screensht.

Hello,
We’ve checked the URL you shared, but the newsArticle schema is only applied:

Could you please share the URL from the screenshot you shared?
Looking forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have add the link in sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
You shared your website’s homepage URL. You shouldn’t focus on adding this type of schema to your homepage; instead, focus on the post blogs. However, we don’t see the NewsArticle
or Article
schema on your homepage, so you must be referring to another specific post. Can you please confirm?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Hello,
I have put the link in the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
We see 1 Article (NewsArticle) schema and a Breadcrumb schema which are both essential for this kind of page. See screenshot:

Can you please confirm if you wish to remove the Breadcrumbs schema?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Hello,
Please note that the schema markups you’ve marked are not added by the Rank Math plugin. All the Schema from our plugin goes inside a script tag with the class rank-math-schema
.
It seems like these Schema markups are added by your theme or any other plugin you’re using on your website. To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/
Regarding the 404 error, we can see that Google has indexed the “/abu-dhabi-construction-worker-compensation/” URL on SERPs, where the actual URL is in “/news/abu-dhabi/abu-dhabi-construction-worker-compensation/”
This is why the page is getting redirected to your homepage. In this case, you can create a redirection on your website from “/abu-dhabi-construction-worker-compensation/” to “/news/abu-dhabi/abu-dhabi-construction-worker-compensation/” to fix this issue.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
